locked v2.15.5 does not recognize some b4 calls

WB5JJJ - George

I've gone back to v2.15.5 (even though it's very slow to display) after the FT Contest a couple weekends back.

I've noticed that lately JTA does not always "remember" a B4 call sign.  This seems to be more frequent when it's a DXCC.  Before the DXCC would display, but not announce again when a new call from same DXCC pops up.  Also, I'm seeing some individuals calls that are worked B4, according to WSJTx (and checked in my log), but JTA still shows them as a new call.

I usually solve this by shutting down HRD LB and do a Log QSO for that call again, even though I didn't actually work them.  Most times, that sets the missing B4 call correctly.  My question is, are there any plans in a future version to allow direct entry of a call sign, band & mode into the B4 database easier?

HRD latest version
WSJTx latest
JTA latest
Win10 Pro 64
8Gb RAM
500Gb SSD
Dell i5 computer

CPU loading is ~20% at any time, RAM loading is 5% as well.

locked Waterfal pauses on decode

Neil Foster

I do not have a problem with the waterfall pausing but a friend does. Recently there was a post to indicate a setting in WSJT or JT Alert that would help.
I can not remember where and searched recent posts.
Does anyone remember this bit of info so i can pass it on?
I advised Jim to close all applications running in the background not having to do with WSJT and JT Alert and that has helped.
Any info I can pass on is appreciated.

I second Marion's comments.  JTAlert has renewed my interest in Ham Radio especially during these low sun spot years relatively poor propagation.  I have worked and confirmed over 120 FT8 countries and increased my overall DX entities to 217 as well as after 10 years of looking for zone #23 finally confirmed my WAZ.  It has also enabled me to increase my 6M grid chasing numbers substantially with 60 new grids added just this past Es season.

Thank you again Laurie.

Not for me to say though :)

The fix for slow callsigns display experienced by some users (it is not a universal complaint) has been tested by the Beta Team and several users who had indicated they had the slowness problem. It is looking very promising.

I am finalizing some quality of life changes then I will push out a public release.

From a message received earlier today, commenting on the latest build ... "and it seems much faster; calls appear in the activity windows much faster than ever before, even when filling 3-4 rows. Not sure what you changed but the CPU utilization has been reduced as well."

On the Hamapps website, click on the "Download JTAlert" section. Scroll down to where you see Old Versions.

Hi

JTAlert is ONLY available on HamApps web site.

On the ‘Download JTAlert’ link you can see the older version - 2.15.3

Tom

P.S. Laurie - there is a typo on main page Downlod rather than Download

Is this possible as I really don’t wish to install new copies.    Which would be the safest way ?

I cant run Win7 as there are other programs on the computer which will only run under XP.

From another Log4OM user, I increased my "Check QSO Log Record" to 7 secs. and rarely have the no log warning anymore.  It's always actually logged anyways.  All is well. 73, Herb WB8ASI

Does the QSO get logged into Log4OM despite the JTAlert warning?
  • If no then you likely have a Log4OM setup problem, see the JTAlert help file for instructions.
  • If yes then double-check you have set JTAlert to use the correct sqlite file for your log, also try increasing the "Check QSO log record" time under the "Miscellaneous -> Performance" section of the Settings window.

Hi -

Yes, I have it running. Look at the JT Alert help file - the process should still be valid. Note that there are multiple steps that include configuring the Log4OM Communicator instead of the main program and configuration in the JT Alert.

Here's a link to a YouTube video that isn't in English but the steps look valid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8V6XJvHJqc

Sorry for the delay; just returned from business travel.

I'm using the Settings>Applications>Auto-Start function as shown in these screen-shots:

All of this in launched by clicking on the JTA 2.15.5 "WSJT-X" shortcut, which launches the first instance of JTA which in turn launches everything else per the screen caps. Note the delays - I had to stretch those out as of 2.15.3 to prevent race conditions that caused issues during initialization.

Good luck!

Mike - N8MSA
