All JTAlert Settings are stored in a single sqlite database file.
Found here %localappdata%\HamApps\<YOUR_CALLSIGN>\config\JTAlertX\config.sqlite

What antivirus are you using?  Make sure you have the JTAlert program folder excluded.

With version 2.13.10 I can open the JTalert settings just fine. its a basic config and have not added logging or anything else for that matter. As soon as I upgrade JTalert beyond that  version I begin to have issues. Sometimes its hard to get JTalert to even open but when it does it appears to function as its receiving callsigns but if I open settings and close it the JTalert closes as well.

I was getting errors about being able to find last soundcard or something to that effect but don't think I have seen that recently.  I can go into settings and test the soundcard and JTalert will instantly close.

So besides physical files I have not attempted to clean out the registry or anything.

Thoughts?

Sound ON was okay - I found that if I went in and disabled each alert of interest and re-enabled them, they worked.

Don't know where those settings are stored by the program but thru the last couple of updates they became disabled apparently. Is there a .ini file or similar where JT's settings are stored?

Thank you Laurie,

What does the Sound menu show? "Sound ON", "Sound OFF" or "Sound UTC"?
If the Alerts are not generating sounds while their Test functions do, than the likely cause is you have the sound muted by the "Sound OFF" or "Sound UTC" setting being enabled.

Obviously, not an urgent request, but it would be nice.

To avoid the updates available indicator for the JTAlert additional applications like the Databases or Sounds, you need to uninstall that application using Windows Control Panel.

If you copy the Sound files to a safe place prior to uninstalling then copy the files back to the original location you should be able to use the Sounds without being shown the Updates available indicator.

Having the sound files in a fixed location is only needed by JTAlert when you use the default button when setting an Alert sound, but if you use the Select button the file can be anywhere, JTAlert doesn't care.

Far warning, there will be future updates to the Sounds package with addition voiced sounds as some newer Alert types are added and those voiced Sounds will NOT be using the voices of the old Sounds that you seem to prefer. I no longer have the ability to generate those older voiced sounds, only the newer voices.

Why can you only run 2.13.10? If your running Log4OMV2 your Windows version should be suitable for JTAlert.

What Windows version are you running?

Thanks for your help Laurie, I went to settings (F11), clicked on wanted grid, saw the wave file path field was empty, selected default and it populated the field. I did the same for the other Wanted alert types.

Jeff,

If the Sound Test works but the individual Alert sounds do not, the usual cause is that those Alerts don't have a sound file set.
Check each Wanted Alert type in the Settings and ensure you have a sound file set. JTAlert does not automatically do that (except for new installations and then only once)
