Michael when I went to the microsoft site to download the C++ update there were two choices X86 and X64.  My computer is a 64 bit but you stated to run the X86.  Which one should I use?

I understand that the problem will be fix in the next release, but I thought I would get my computer updated.  Thanks Tom

I addition to what Mike correctly stated, anyone wanting to do this need to install the X86 version (32bit), NOT the X64 (64bit) version even if they are running 64bit Windows. The libmysql.dll file that is triggering the error is a 32bit compiled file so requires the 32bit runtime.

Ok the crazy thing is that 2.15.8 works okay on one computer but not the other, I had 2.15.7
That's because the error is a Visual C run-time problem and very likely your two PC's are not identically setup with respect to this.
The next public release has rolled-back the MySQL dll file that is causing the error. Until that is released, stay with the JTAlert versions that work for you.

While Windows displays what is installed on your computer it does say if something is corrupt.  Don't assume that a new version of a app will perform just because the old one does. I  suggest you clean junk & temporary files on your system.
CCleaner does a good job of that & will clean the registry.  Before the registry is cleaned you have the option of backing up the changes.

Once you have a clean computer do a system scan.:
As the computer administer from a command prompt run:  sfc/scannow  this will check the system files for corruption and errors.
When complete do shutdown (not restart) . Start computer install the latest version 2.15.8.

The last version of JTAlert that supported Win XP is 2.11.5, released June 2018.
It is available for download at https://HamApps.com/JTAlert/
