locked Feature Request: WSJT-X (Contest Mode) to DXLabs DX Keeper log #DXLAB

Duncan Campbell

Hi,
I am in the middle of the RTTY Roundup and have been using WSJT-X, JT Alert for WSJT-x and DX Keeper.

All has been going very well using this combination, however, my desire is to switch to RTTY and another program.  When I went and looked at the DX Keeper log, the contest (CONTEST_ID), transmit exchange (STX_STRING), and Receive Exchange (SRX_STRING) were all blank.  My plan was to use DX Keeper as a repository for all my QSOs during the contest, and send one Cabrillo file from there.

Request that when WSJT-X is in contest mode, that JT Alert pass these three items to DX Keeper, as well as the information which is normally passed.

Tnx Joe, I'll have to look at that as a solution. Not crazy about deleting them either, but it seems like a good idea at the time!

Why delete the QSO from DXKeeper?  Instead, set its QSL_RCVD and
LOTW_QSL_RCVD items to 'I' (for invalid).  JTAlert should read
those flags and ignore the QSO.

I don't like deleting the QSOs since they will produce "QSO Not in
Log" errors from DXKeeper when syncing QSOs from LotW.

if not deleted, would they then continue to show up as "B4"?
I would *assume* that JTAlert would not flag as *B4* a QSO that
is marked invalid in the DXKeeper Log.  However, only Laurie can
answer to the program logic.

When running ft8, I use N3FJP ACLogger, WSJT-X, JTAlert and wsjtaggregator with my Flex 6300.  When I originally set up a .bat file to start all the software apps, I discovered there was a required start order and some delays were necessary to make sure each app was ready before the next app was started.  I now have a shortcut on my desktop to the following .bat file (see below).  It opens a command prompt window which starts an app and then pauses.  I confirm the app and the interface with other apps are working properly, mouse into the command prompt window and type any key which allows the next app to start.  When all apps are started, the command prompt window disappears.  If there is a failure in any app, I can stop the rest from starting by entering <ctrl-c> followed by "y <CR>" in the command prompt window.  Note:  The last pause was commented out because it is needed only during debug.

Your mileage may vary.

Start up .bat file:

start "SmartSDR" /D "C:\Program Files\FlexRadio Systems\SmartSDR v3.1.12" "C:\Program Files\FlexRadio Systems\SmartSDR v3.1.12\SmartSDR.exe"
pause
start "N3JFP ACL" /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\N3FJP Software - Affirmatech\Amateur Contact Log\" "C:\Program Files (x86)\N3FJP Software - Affirmatech\Amateur Contact Log/ACLog.exe"
pause
start "WSJT-X" /D "C:\WSJT\wsjtx" "C:\WSJT\wsjtx\bin\wsjtx.exe"
pause
start "WSJT-X JTAlertX" /D "C:\HamApps\JTAlert" "C:\HamApps\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe" /wsjtx
pause
start "WSJT-X aggregator" /D "C:\WSJT\wsjtaggregator" "C:\WSJT\wsjtaggregator\WsjtDXAggregator.exe"
rem pause

Why not just tell jtalert to autostart all

Now testing new bat and working fine but I musted correct jtdx line as

START "JTALERT" "C:\Radio\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe" /jtdx

/jtdx as modifier, must be out of link to program..

Marlo Montanaro - KA2IRQ

Hi-
I'm noticing lately with the increased solar activity, my mode activity display is almost always showing the top level (greater than 50) for most bands most of the time.

It would be cool if we could customize the range for each level.

Just a thought...

Steve,

Thank you, but I was pointing to the RTTY Roundup log, identical to your screen. However, until I shut all the software down and then relaunched with the proper configurations it didn't recognize the Roundup log. All is fine now.

Bob,

It looks like you are still pointing to ACLog. Laurie has a nice tutorial in the help section that explains how to set up for contesting.

Hope this helps.

Pepe,

Check the spelling of the last line.  In your description above the first word of the JT Alert line is misspelled.... As reads "STAR"  should read "START"

Hello, this is Pepe EA4ZQ, KC0CLF.

Before working FT8 mode, I need start Logging software, Time sync soft, JTDX soft and JTAlert soft.
Well, this is a huge work for an old mind... hi, hi..

I use a bat file to start all programs in a single click, but I can't start JTAlert because their modificator "/jtdx"
C:\Radio\JTAlert\JTAlertexe /jtdx is the shortcut in desktop that works fine, but no within bat file...
Have anyone a better idea than mine?

BAT FILE USED
START "Neutron" "C:\Radio\Neutron\Neutron.exe"      (Time Syncro)
START "JTDX" "C:\Radio\JTDX\155\bin\jtdx.exe"
START "Logger32" "C:\Radio\Logger32\Logger32.exe" WSJT-X   (Logger32 with special FT8 configuration) ( I used WSJT-X at file creation)
STAR "JTALERT" "C:\Radio\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe /jtdx"   (Same shortcut that works from desktop)

Hi Bob,

You need to use the RTTY RU contest logger, not ACLog, for the contest.

Happy New Year,

I have been running ACLog / WSJT v2.2.2 / JTAlert 2.16.17 without a hitch. However, I just set up ACLog for the RTTY Roundup, was testing it and keep getting the following error message:

The test contacts are properly being saved to the correct ACLog RTTY file (the most important thing). I have JTAlert Logging - ACLog in Manual Configuration set for the correct contest file location, and the Log Type is RTTY Roundup Log. What do I need to do to correct the error message? Thanks!

de Laurie,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I did follow the tutorial. The file to log to was properly selected (three times). But then I noticed that irrespective of all that the JTAlert status bar still showed as ACL, not RRCL/RU. Then I remembered a necessary step in working with three interconnected pieces of software; whenever you make any change, shut everything down (I even - perhaps unnecessarily - restarted the computer) and then reopen all three software afresh in the correct order. Now RRCL/RU is displayed. A lesson to live by.

If the QSOs are getting logged correctly, that indicates that JTAlert is trying to read the wrong log file when it tries to confirm the QSO was written. Very likely you have not set the correct path to the rtty log file. You have set the correct log type in the "Log Type" selector, but haven't selected the actual log file.

See the JTAlert Help file, "Tutorials -> N3FJP Contest Logs Logging" topic.
