Normally the calling station Callsign is displayed, BUT, in your case that did not happen because your using the Q65 mode which the current public release of JTAlert, 2.16.17, does not recognize.

2.16.17 was released before Q65 was released so has no understanding of Q65 decodes. When a decode is received for an unrecognized mode, JTAlert will not display the decode Callsign, except if your Callsign is detected in the decode. You will observe if your receiving Q65 decodes not directed to you, that none are displayed in JTAlert. This is not ideal, but happens when a new mode is released and I don't get an early "heads up" that it is happening and what the new mode identification character used will be. Each mode uses a unique mode identification character which JTAlert has to be coded to look for. The same happened when FST4 was released.

The next release of JTAlert will recognize Q65 decodes.

Laurie,
I fully understand your frustration. I feel the same way, at least until Mike called me. I should not have vented in public, it was inexcusable.
What tipped me over was when I entered the 239.255.0.1 address, I did not get a dropdown box asking for the Outgoing Interface or the Multicast TIL lines.
At that point frustration took over...
JTAlert is a very useful addition that makes working FT8 so much better.
We users don't understand the huge amount of effort developing software takes. And to freely contribute your work to others is above and beyond selfless.
My apologies and please accept my thanks for your time in developing the software and being willing to help troubleshoot problems.
Norman

I sometimes wonder why I bother. I clearly articulated in this message the following...

due to recent changes in WSJT-X 2.3.0 is the need to ensure a loopback outgoing interface is selected in the UDP Server settings.

eg  my WSJT-X setup.

Tnx Mike.
What was wrong with his setup?
He should have still worked even when using the unicast address. The
difference in Multicast address shouldn't have mattered or was it that
he had the WSJT-X 2.3.0 bug where there was no output interface selected?

Unfortunately you are likely right. It will be interesting to see if Q65 can produce some EU results on 50.305 that don't happen on FT8. But I run JTDX for everything else except Q65 so no JTAlert on Q65 unless I use two computers. JTAlert on 6m FT8 is my morning alarm clock during summer Es DX season. :o)

Clearly, more than a JTAlert upgrade has occurred. What other changes
did you make to your software at the time you first upgraded JTAlert?

In previous messages you mentioned DXLab. That could be the issue.

If Multicast UDP doesn't work and unicast is not working, the likely
culprit is that you are trying to use DXLab Spotcollector configured to
work with WSJT-X directly. SpotCollector doesn't support Multicast and
if it is started before JTAlert, it will take exclusive control of the
UDP port (2237 by default), thus preventing JTAlert from receiving
decodes from WSJT-X. Try starting JTAlert and WSJT-X before starting the
DXLab components (Commander is fine).

There may be some evidence in your JTAlert session files as to what is
happening. Please use the "Help" -> "Contact Support" menu, on the main
JTAlert window, to send me your JTAlert files for analysis.
