Going to ask the obvious questions: 1. Did you install JT-Alert by setting the setup to "run as administrator"? 2. Did you check to see if your antivirus has quarantined any JT-Alert files? 3. Did anything else change on your system? There is a Windows update out. Neil, KN3ILZ

What antivirus are you using? It has happened previously that some antivirus programs will quarantine program DLLs and not notify the user. I would make sure you have the HAMLIB directory excluded from scans or, if your antivirus has the capability, to notify you before it tries to 'help' you. Once you do that, run the JT-Alert setup again. I suspect your problem will have been fixed. Neil, KN3ILZ

Country logging is working. Also 100% of the QSOs are logged. I help friends set this up and when I see the intermittent logging it is almost always due to the computer ewsources (CPU/RAM) being insufficient. I had one person trying to run everything on a 10 year old Fujitsi tablet with 4 GB ram. The OS was accessing the swap file so much everything would freezes every few minutes. Another friend was using a USB to HDMI adapter on his laptop to drive a 42” TV as a monitor. There wasn’t enough data throuput for the video. In most cases once hardware upgrades were performed the amount ofbdecodes permcycle went up substantially. On 20 meters yhe last few days i am getting over 36 decodes on many cycles. First thing to check is CPU. Anything over peaks of 60% usage consistently should be considered for an upgrade. Second is RAM, minimum of 8 GB is needed to accompdate the OS and programs. For those having issues with HRD, the latest version as of this writing is 6.7.277, not 275. Also check your cpu and ram usage in Task Manager. Hit CTRT-ALT-DEL and choose Task Manager. Also try turning off the color notifications and see if it maes a difference in intermittent logging. Dave wo2x

Hi Barry, thank you very much for the answer, I really appreciate it. I can’t even send the file to ESET, as the antivirus stops the download, so the file never came complete to my HD.
I admire Lauries work and I trust on the professional protocols he use. It isn’t about that, it’s just about my own protocols. As a matter of fact, I feel I shouldn’t bring this opinions to the list, as they don’t help much.
Yesterday I was in the elevator and I neighbour came into the elevator, when the door was almost closed. He was without a mask on and he said: Ooops, sorry, relax, I am free of virus, I did a test weeks ago, he said. Well, I stopped the elevator on the first flat and I took the stairs. -wink-
Laurie, your software is great and you wrote already your name n the history of Ham Radio, like many others as K1EA, HB9DRV, etc, did. This problem I have with the download is just “my problem”, not your problem.
Happy week to all…

Hi Carlos
You need to submit a report to ESET to verify the file is clear – they will then whitelist it in their next definition update. You will then be able to update in a day or two.
I use ESET Internet Security, but was happy to pause mine for 10 minutes – I trust Laurie’s checking process before he posts a file for download…. This is now the second time in a row ESET has flagged JTAlert – I submitted the last one, didn’t bother this time. Likely to happen next time too…
I generally don’t like pausing my protection – but in this case I know that Laurie is very thorough with checking process and trust his software (and the HamApps site).

Hi Neil,
Turning off the antivirus? Bad deal, in my opinión. I trust n my antivirus.. not a single virus in my PC since I installed it, many years ago. I download a lot of files and never had this experience, so I just want to know what the developer says, if he has anything to say about it. I trust on JTalert and so do I with my ESET antivirus.

The file is safe ..
TURN OFF your antivirus, download the file, mark the file and the hamapps directory AS SAFE in your antivirus exemption list, install the update. Turn the antivirus back on.

Hi again, Nei…
I know that I can turn off my antivirus whenever I want, but it isn’t my choice. I don’t mean the file isn’t safe neither, BUT, I prefer to wait to the next downloadable (by me) beta and follow my instinct.
I hope you all enjoy the new beta and help Laurie to develope the JTA the more, the best. I will, as soon as I can download it under my criteria.
Hope all of you, and all of yours, are safe and healthy these days. All great here, thanks God

You're only turning it off in order to be able to download the file from a known SAFE site. You then add the HAMAPPS directory to your SAFE exemptions on your antivirus, and turn it back on. Neil, KN3ILZ

JTAlert will only send DXCC number and Country Name in the HRD logging command if the DXCC is > 0, that is for a valid DXCC Country. Is JTAlert showing country data in its log field area prior to logging, if so that should be getting sent to HRD. Sorry, I am unable to test HRD logging, I don't own a copy. Hi,
I just installed JTAlert version 2.16.7. After installing, it no longer logs the Country field in HRD. The Country field displays [None] in HRD. I have QRZ XML Lookup enabled in JTalert, and my account is valid. I am running HRD version 6.7.0.275. This all worked fine with the previous version of JTAlert, 2.16.6 Thanks in advance, Roger AC6BW

The files listed in the zip file are all dated 2020-3-02, March 2nd for the file downloaded June 8th. If the Callsign in question updated their FCC address from AZ to WI after that date, then JTAlert would not know about it due to these out-of-date file. I'll investigate. de Laurie VK3AMA
