Sid,

Does the QSO get logged despite the error popup?
If not, than likely you have not setup Log4OM correctly. See the JTAlert Help File "Settings -> Logging -> Lo44OM V2" topic.

I can just put his callsign in WSJT-X and it shows up like this.

The problem is the "/4" AH6P is using.

The JTAlert cty.dat file parsing is returning KH4 which is Midway, I don't know if that is correct or not

If he had signed for the other US cq zones he comes up as..
    Zone 3: AH6P/3 -> KH3 Johnston Island
    Zone 5: AH6P/5 -> KH5 Palmyra & Jarvis Islands

Using DXLab DXView as my gold standard it returns the same results except for no DXCC for AH6P/4

I am not familiar with the US licensing requirements, but is it normal to indicate the operating zone in such a way? I don't recall ever seeing this before, signing using the operating Zone number as a portable suffix.

de Laurie VK3AMA

Hi Laurie,

I believe it is not zone but call area. Once it was required in the days when calls were strictly issued by call area, now calls can be moved at will there's no longer a requirement but it is useful with island entity like Hawaii when operated form the mainland.

JTAlert lists only the Audio devices the OS tells it are available in response to an api call.

Since your on Win10, try a Windows restart.

I believe JTAlert is doing EXACTLY what is expected with that callsign.  AH6P should be signing /W4!

Looking at a US map with a zones overlay, I note that zone 4 covers a majority of the US land-mass, perhaps he should be signing AH4P/K to indicate he's operating from the US or is there a better alternative like indicating the Licensing area, how does that work for the US?

Place JTAlert in your safe file, and have exceptions for JTAlert.  The trouble with many anti-virus programs, is that they have a lot of false positives.

Turning off the antivirus? Bad deal, in my opinión. I trust n my antivirus.. not a single virus in my PC since I installed it, many years ago. I download a lot of files and never had this experience, so I just want to know what the developer says, if he has anything to say about it. I trust on JTalert and so do I with my ESET antivirus.

The file is safe ..

TURN OFF your antivirus, download the file, mark the file and the hamapps directory AS SAFE in your antivirus exemption list, install the update.  Turn the antivirus back on.

Hasan .. Defender doesn't suck .. but its written so that low usage programs (most ham applications) seem to be most affected by it.

Thank you Laurie

I have found that it is easier to locate the WAE entities which are mostly small islands by searching for their GRID/LOCATORS.

I can make it easier for you. Please let me know which DXCC code is used for each  of the WAE entities as you see below:

There are no dxcc codes for WAE countries. The WAE country is determined by examining the structure of the Callsign and looking for any specific callsign overrides in the cty.dat file.

If you want me to look into what WAE callsigns JTAlert is finding during the Scan you will need to send me an ADIF export of your Log.

locked Populated fields in logging program

Paul AC9O

I know that when a contact is logged, it passes the band, mode, grid, etc. to the logging program.

But before logging, I think just the call is passed and the logging program then displays the name, state and some other fields. Band, Mode and Grid are not displayed at this point.

It would be nice if those fields were populated prior to logging.

Perhaps the interface doesn't allow that. If not, no big deal. Just wondering.

Note that I use ACLog.

Thanks and 73

Hi Mark.

Same here. More than enough room for more fields. However, I would not like to take any of Laurie's valuable time from v3 by 'fixing' something in v2, especially if the issue does not exist in v3.

Hi John,

JTDX has own notifications functionality, including coloring message background, side color markers, various filters that let users to hide messages they do not needed in, system sound notifications. All this functionality was developed prior to WSJT-X messages coloring done via UDP and it’s high complexity would not let to control JTDX notifications from JTAlert with existing WSJT-X UDP protocol.

I have noticed that the JTAlert coloring of alerts is different between WSJT-X and JTDX in that the alert color does not appear on the JTDX screen to identify the call that caused the alert. This coloring occurs in WSJT-X and is very helpful. Am I missing something in either JTDX or JTAlert?
