locked New - JTAlert 2.5.0 available

Laurie, VK3AMA <groups06@...>

JTAlert 2.5.0 is available for download.

This is the long-overdue release of JTAlert. There have been many changes, fixes and new features. Please review the release notes at the end of this email.

There is still a significant amount of work to be done to the Help file. The Help file now contains place-holder sections for each of the JTAlert Setting sections. This will allow me to release new help file releases without the need to produce a JTAlert release.

OK Thanks. I just started using the HB9HQX version and downloaded the latest release. I had been using the original JT-65A version for the longest time, but looking for something more feature and come across his version.

I can wait until it is updated as the HB9 version has some basic alerts, but it is not as feature rich as JT-Alert.

Thanks for the program. It is excellent.

JTAlert 2.4.20 is not compatible with HB9HQX 0.9.90.

Whenever a new version of HB8HQX is released, a new version of JTAlert has to be coded to accommodate the changes.

0.9.90 appears to have been released a few days ago. For some reason, the SourceForge.net notifications of project changes didn't notify me of this release.

If there are no significant problems the next JTAlert release will support HB9HQX 0.9.90

FYI, it is not recommended to immediately upgrade to the latest HB9HQX or Comfort by DL3VCO releases if you are dependent on JTAlert continuing to function with the programs. It is best to wait untill JTAlert has been updated before doing the upgrade of HB9HQX or Comfort.

The next release allows for turning off the Text Message popup window timeout, which will cause the popup to stay visible until the user clicks the Reply or Close button. The timeout will also be adjustable from 10secs to 180secs (3 minutes).

I frequently find that I am busy and either the message window countdown times out and then the window dissapears, or more often, the countdown is close to the end and I click reply without actually having time to read the message which promptly dissapears when I click 'reply'..

John,

There are several enhancements to the Text Message feature on the "drawing board", but it is unlikely they will make the next , long overdue, release, sorry.

Guy,

If you want State Name announcements, tick the "Use individual State Name announcements..." checkbox. This is under the "Alerts -> Wanted US State" section of the Settings window.

This will require the HamApps Sounds installed.
Using the Test button will play a random State name so you can confirm they are working.

Note: You will need the HamApps Callsign Database installed, which contains State data for US Callsigns.

locked Re: Trouble with Alert "Filters" after changing Lotw only

Laurie, VK3AMA <groups06@...>

Bob,

The filters as currently implemented use "OR" logic. So if you have LoTW enabled and CQ/QRZ enabled then you will get alerts for all decodes that are Calling CQ "OR" are LoTW members, so you will get LoTW alerts even if the station is not calling CQ.

These filters have been on my todo list for quite a while for a major overhaul. Most people expect them to use "AND" logic resulting in alerts that satisfy all the filter types enabled. I also intend to allow custom filtering. When that happens is unclear and wont be this year. Sorry.

Aferr maybe an hour, I decided to go back to CQ only alerts.

Now I get Alerts for a wanted entity irrespective of whether or not it's
Calling CQ or not.

And, new problem, I don't get notified for a new-State of it IS Lotw,
and needed.

I tried stopping JT-Alert and wsjt-x and re-starting.

Laurie, VK3AMA <groups06@...>

Lou,

If the Test Sound function works, then the individual audio alerts should work. They use the exact same internal sound functions as the Test routine.

Make sure you have setup the sound files for the individual alerts. Installing the Sound files is not sufficient, you need to visit each of the Alerts on the Settings window and select your required sound file, or use the default button which will select a sound file from the HamApps Sounds.

Also, make sure you don't have the sounds muted. The titlebar should show "Sound ON". If it shows "Sound OFF" just click that menu and it will toggle to ON.

If you have the Alerts set with sound files, and still get no output, Please use the "Settings -> Contact Support" menu to send me your Configuration and Session files for analysis.
