Tim,

Reinstalling a currently installed version doesn't work. The best option is to simply uninstall, being sure to answer that you wish to keep settings files and then after completion install the version again.

What do you mean that the desktop shortcut would not work with JTAlert? The shortcut simply points to the installed executable and passes the correct command-line parameters.
What error message did you get?

Laurie,

You did notice that it's the JTAlert.exe that gets a false positive on jotti.org

The setup file compresses all the files so they don't get scanned correctly.

You may want to consider scanning the executables independently in the future.

There have been several reports of 2.4.19 being infected. These have been false positives.
There have been NO reports of actual virus or malware infection caused by 2.4.19

I am confident that 2.4.19 is virus and malware free.

I have just completed a full scan of the development PC with zero detections.

I develop and test each version under several different virus protected environments.
JTAlert is developed under Win7 protected by MS Security Essentials.
JTAlert is tested under a XP VM protected by Comodo antivirus.
JTAlert is tested under a Win7 VM  protected by AVG antivirus.
JTAlert is tested under a Win8 VM protected by Bitdefender antivirus

At the time of this message, there are 378 users of JTAlert-X and 192 users of JTAlert using 2.4.19. These numbers are based on analysis of the auto-spotting logs on HamSpots,

Or fix this systemically:

What To Do When McAfee Detects Legitimate Software As An Infection - How to Submit To McAfee Labs & Appeal:

There isn't a way, in the McAfee consumer products, to exclude particular files or folders. This alone is a primary reason why most of us in the industry don't use it, as there are many other executables published by people like Laurie that will elicit a similar response from McAfee.

These "virus" complaints are a major reason why people writing hobby software stop, or don't start in the first place. A simple Google search along the lines of "what to do when I suspect that [insert anti-malware program name here] is detecting a false-positive" would eliminate most of these posts.

Did you uninstall first?  If not, try that.

If that doesn't work try installing 2.4.18 and see if that works.

Hi Guys

What I am referring to is a live on the air type display of on going QSO`s or CQ`s from PSK31 like JTAlert does with JT65 or JT9. If your using HRD DM Supersweeper with say 20 on going QSO`s thats 40 callsigns decode those 40 callsigns and tell where each is located and visually or audibly alert for any new or needed ones. Thats probably asking a lot even if you narrowed it to stations calling CQ would be a great benefit.
As far as what I actually need I use LOTW records in DXCC and WAS for that. From a personal standpoint
Awards was never a priority for me until the last few years. I am way behind in this sort of thing and my operating has been sporadic at best with lots of off time.

Agreed, Morris. That is where something like the DXLabs suite is handy. Importing your file into the DX suite programs will give you a pretty complete analysis of what's needed for the particular award you are working.

DXLab continuously updates its understanding of what you need for the awards you're pursuing in the DXCC, IOTA, Marathon, VUCC, WAS, WAZ, and WPX award families. When you log a QSO, import a QSO from your contest logger, receive a confirmation via LotW or eQSL.cc, or mark a QSO as confirmed via a QSL card, DXLab automatically updates its understanding of what's needed. No manual maintenance of "need filters" is required.

Dave, AA6YQ (author, DXLab)
