First i want to thank you for the quick reply.

I know of at least two other users who gave up because they couldn't get it to work.  I now know enough to help them.

I'm still short on a little detail with the details,  for example I see online this kind of layout, which is attached and below the JTalert toolbar.

But mine doesn't seem to want to follow that layout and gives me a separate box.

However it does now work.  My concern would be that now I have to have JTalert running or I can't log.

True, Joe.  Poor choice of words on my part.  At the time I was reading the OP, I was listening to just such a conversation on 15m FT8, two guys carrying on a "colorful" discussion of local politics.  I was always taught by my elmer and mentor, who also happened to be my dad, to monitor my own transmissions, at least occasionally.

Seem to me the "Rebuild Alert Database" option to "Ignore QSOs before this date" would work for JTAlert.
But that wouldn't cover the logger.

Glad you found a solution and shared it.

I received a few FB help suggestions from several members of the group.

Here is the step by step method that I successfully used:

Download ADIF Master, it is free.

Unfortunately there seems to be no manual.

Make a copy of your logs, the original to which you wish to add the DXCC contries, and the log from which you wish to draw the DXCC countries that you have already worked.

Put them in a safe place, separate, like on an USB drive. We will not be using these for the transfer, only for safe keeping in case something goes wrong.

Load the file into ADIF Master. On the menu, select "File" then - "Open Filtered"

This will open another dialogue box.

Note that many filtering options are available.

In this example we wish to have all DX other than North America, appear.

I did NOT change the "Use Date Filter" selection.

I clicked on "Use Mode Filter" I selected FT8 from the drop down menu.

In the lower right

I clicked on the "Continent" "Use Continent Filter"

I clicked on all continents BUT "NA"

There ar other options though if you wish to use them to narrow your search.

Unfortunately, I found no way to retrieve the Canadian stations from the file.

There is probably a method, but I did simply work some Canadian stations at the new QTH for a new country, but as yet I have not brought over the providences.

Now click OK

A dialogue box will open, select the file that you wish filtered.

The FILTERED file will now fill the ADIF screen.

Save the file with a new file name.

Now to add the file to your existing file that was used at your NEW address.

Since the filtered file had to be made before you moved to the new QTH, simply

copy the filtered file to the beginning of the new QTH file.

IMPORTANT: Remove the header from the filtered file. The new QTH file

has its own header.

Now in JTAlert, rebuild all of the data bases in the  "Settings" menu selection.

Depending on how confident you may be with each above step, I would save

each file that is created.

Feel free to add any comments or corrections.

Hi Bud,

Perform the following steps:

1. Goto settings, and left click.
2. That will bring up the settings selector dialog box. Select "Rebuild Alert Database".
3. After that windows appears, using the scroll bar move to the CQ Marathon area.
4. I have the date set to January 1st, 2022.
5. I also have rebuild, and no QSL conformation selected.

My guess is you do not have the data set correctly, is this the case?

Hi Bud,

Marathon is an ANNUAL thing, so as it is now 2022, you will need pretty much everything for the CQ Marathon from now until the end of the year.

Personally, I find it better to uncheck the Marathon award until much later in the year.

Not necessarily stupidity.  Could be as simple as having an older
radio that does not disconnect the microphone in digital modes or
not knowing how to properly configure their radio.  Even the newest
Icom rigs default to MIC,ACC for data mode audio.

You need to enable the "Accept UDP requests" option in the WSJTX UDP Server settings.

What specifically is not working?

  • What does "4 & 6" refer to?
  • Is JTAlert reporting the WSJTX Band and Mode in its titlebar?
  • Is JTAlert displaying the callsigns of the WSJTX decodes?
  • Have you setup the WSJTX for multicast UDP?

I gotta be doing something silly

I moved ham computers from a laptop running win 10 to a desktop running win 11.

Followed all the instruction as to copying the proper files to the new destination, everything moved and copied properly.

Only thing not working is on the JTAlert Decode panel and sub panels. On old machine I was able to double click a call on any of the panels and WSJT-X would populate.

Now if I single or double click in one of the panels nothing populates in WSJT-X

Please advise

Thank you

Don’t forget to set the API in ACL

In ACL, go to Settings and near the bottom of the list, Application Program Interface (API)

Attached is how I have mine set and it works flawlessly…
