locked 2 Instances of JTAlert Simultaneously #FT8 #JTDX

Micky Corrow

Greetings.

I sometimes run 2 different stations simultaneously. Both are on totally separate computers and radios (and antennas).
Both computers run the same software combinations of JTDX, Log4OMv2 and JTAlert.

While both stations run well, I will sometimes get a text alert from the other station on the one where I am currently sitting. Although this is not a showstopper by any means, is there a way to tie each instance of JTAlert to each specific band (on each separate computer)?

It is not the end of the world here, as I just usually ask the person texting me which band (if it is not obvious) and just keep going on from there.

Subject: [HamApps] Feature Request - DXCC Most Wanted rank

I doubt that I'm the first to suggest this, but a quick search revealed no other such suggestions, so here goes ...

How about adding the rank on ClubLog's "DXCC Most Wanted List" to the info on the hover-over pop-up?

Already available and has been for several years. You can add & remove a callsign to & from the Wanted Callsign list via the Callsign right-click context menu.

With the new 2.50.x Callsigns window, what entries can be displayed in the menu is user-configurable. If the needed Wanted Callsign management entries are not visible, simply open the Options popup of the Callsigns window (click the gear icon). and select the "Context menus" view.

With the new 2.50.x series window, with the gear icon in the bottom-right of the window, all setting changes can be applied in real-time and don't stop decoding, unlike the main JTAlert Settings window.

Don't try an install multiple versions of JTAlert simultaneously, that will not work.

JTAlert supports overriding the default Station Callsign. This is set via a command-line option when starting JTAlert. Open the JTAlert Settings window, navigate to the "Station Callsign" section and create additional desktop shortcuts as needed.

Alternatively, you can create your own shortcuts with suitable command-line parameters. You will need to use (without the quotes) "/callsign=NEWCALLSIGN", substituting NEWCALLSIGN with the callsign override.

Note: This will create a new JTAlert config for the new Callsigns, independent of your primary callsign so you will need to do some setup with Alerts, Wanted Lists, Logging, etc.

I don't use FT8 very much at all and really only get on to check propagation on the bands as well as exercising the station occasionally, so I'm sure I'm not fully appreciating all the features of the latest version of JTAlert.. hihi.

Rick,

Unfortunately, AutoIT is notorious for providing incorrect line numbers when reporting fatal internal errors and often reporting the wrong type of error condition.

If this is happening consistently, that is every time you use JTAlert, it is unlikely to be a random error that some users on occasion get solved by a restart of JTAlert, but more likely to be corrupted or invalid data in the JTAlert config file that is triggering this error.

If it has been less than a week since this started it is possible to recover an old old backup config file and restore that. If it has been more than a week since this started happening, you will have to delete the config file and loose all your JTAlert settings.

See the JTAlert help file, "Troubleshooting ->
Setting Changes Not Remembered" topic. It discusses how to recover an older config backup file. It also tells you where the file is stored in case you need to delete it and start JTAlert fresh. JTAlert will automatically create a new config file if it is started without a file.

Important: I just noted an incorrect path in the help file instructions, the "X" was missing from "JTAlert"
The correct location for the config file is

%localappdata%\HamApps\<YOUR_CALLSIGN>\config\JTAlertX\

All settings are stored in a single sqlite db file, "config.sqlite". This includes the "Alert Callsigns" list.

By design this file is meant to be edited by using the JTAlert Settings window. While it is possible to manually edit the file using an appropriate sqlite editor, it is not recommended as the structure of the file is not documented and how the data is encoded cannot be easily inferred by examining the data. I strongly advise against manually editing the file.

To resize and reposition the window when it is locked is a simple operation, uncheck the appropriate checkboxes in the "Options" popup of the Callsigns window then drag the sides of the window to adjust its size.

If the gear icon is visible, the size and position locking can be turned off by using the right-click menu of the gear icon.

Opening the "Options" popup is the same across all the new windows introduced in the JTAlert 2.50.x series, left click the gear icon in the bottom right of the window or use make the window active (give it focus) then use the F2 key or right-click the gear icon if it is visible and use the resulting menu.

JTAlert does not allow removing menus. Are you referring to JTAlert or some other application?

Please post an image of the window with the missing menu. Don't post an image of your entire desktop, just the affected window is all that is needed.
