If JTAlert is receiving decodes and band/mode changes from WSJT-X there is no reason for WSJT-X to not be responding to the callsign click events from JTAlert.

I'm sorry to say, but I am out of suggestions except to take a closer look at your Protection software (what are you running?). Some Protections software is notorious for not completely disabling their protecting interference even when the user has disabled the real-time scanning (eg. Norton).

If you can open the "About" window, that excludes a non-functioning JTAlertV2.Manager.exe as the cause of failed UDP comms.

Since your using unicast UDP (127.0.0.1) than likely some other application on your PC is trying to work with WSJT-X directly taking exclusive control of port 2237. Are there any other apps on your PC trying to work with WSJT-X?

I suggest you switch to using Multicast UDP for WSJT-X. Use the JTAlert "Help -> WSJT-X UDP Setup " menu to bring up the relevant section in the Help file.. Nothing needs to change within JTAlert except to restart both WSJT-X and JTAlert after changing WSJT-X to multicast.

I have it set to single click. I've tried it with both double click and single click.

OK.

Since you're clicking Callsigns in JTAlert, that indicates the UDP comms
between JTAlert and WSJT-X is working correctly. If the comms was broken
than JTAlert would not display callsigns or report the Band and Mode in
the titlebar text. With "Accept UDP  requests" enabled the DXCall in
WSJT-X should be getting populated with the callsign clicked in JTAlert.
One other possibility is that you are running WSJT-X with elevated
privileges, set to run as administrator. Check both the shortcut used to
start WSJT-X and the wsjtx.exe executable file properties to ensure the
"Run as administrator" setting is not enabled.

Hi Laurie,

I checked both the shortcut and the exe for WSJT-X, neither are set to run as administrator. I also check JTAlert and nothing is set to administrator there either.

Thanks

Thanks Laurie.  Forgive me if I think upgrading to the latest version should be seamless and not require a computer engineer. Never had an issue until now. Great support.Unfortunately I'm new to the hobby--licensed in 1991.

When you install JTAlert it asks you if you want to create shortcuts for JTDX and/or WSJTX. You are running the program directly, bypassing the shortcuts. If you run from the shortcut then you won't get that message.

Its not complicated.

If you hate Ham Radio and admit to not being a Computer user (only a commuter user whatever that is), why are you getting involved in the Digital modes which by their nature require some Computer skill and knowledge. Plus the added complexity of HRD and its numerous bugs and defects. If its all too hard or above your skill level, seek out an Elmer or perhaps change hobby.

Creating a new log will not loose the old log. HRD supports multiple log files. The only way you would loose your old log is by deliberately deleting it.

Never mind Laurie. Problem not resolved. I am still getting the system errors that I screen-shotted above. And now scan and rebuild doesn't actually rebuild. There is nothing on the help guide to actually help with this. I hate Ham Radio. Updating to the latest version shouldn't be so difficult. Pretty sure I lost a log permanently as well.  I know you guys are trying, I'm a commuter user and this seems way complicated.

I only use the logger internal to WSJT-X, my apologies for not mentioning that in my earlier email.

My WSJT-X log directory contains *3* log files:

1) WSJTX.log               (text file)
2) WSJTX_log.adi         (adi format)
3) WSJT-X _syslog.log  (text file)

So my question is, which of those three files does JTAlert access when a user requests "Rebuild Alert Database"?

73 and TNX 4 JTAlert = a great op aid

The rebuild operation accesses the log file used by your logger. The name and location of the log file will vary depending on your JTAlert settings for the enabled log.
