I'm not into instant gratification, Laurie. I was just trying to ask the question why the prompt was displayed for 10 seconds. And you have answered it, thank you.

I don't ever expect high-priority either. It is your product and at no cost to anyone I do not expect anything. If you do "fix" things, then that's great.

In time I displayed the thing I was referring to. Don't you expect me to lay thing out for you on a silver platter either. I'm not getting paid for troubleshooting.

The worst thing I could do is just leave any "problems" left unsaid. Which is, of course, what I am going to do.

I'm using Norton and now JTAlert has quit working, again. I have added a bi-direction rule to allow UDP 2237 from anywhere. I have installed 2.50.1 and based on a previous, I changed to a multicast address. Now JTAlert is still blank and nothing gets logged. Task manager has JTAlertV2.Manager running.

Suggestion - publish known good configurations. I tried of one suggestion that worked for a while but doesn't support logging. If I revert to settings that used to work, I loose JTAlert.

That is not correct. The fix is in the as yet unreleased 2.50.2, it was never in 2.50.1 as that was the version when the defect was first reported. 2.50.2 should have been out by now but was delayed due to the recent Sound issues induced by a Microsoft patch to NET 5.0.x runtime.

I did release a public beta with a fix a while back when this error was first noted.

That tells me that your PC protection software is interfering and either blocking or terminating the JTAlertV2.Manager.exe process. All UDP comms is routed via that process. The difference between 2.50.1 and 2.16.17 is the NET framework use to compile the Manager process. Most likely due to the new Manager code your Protection software is disliking the new code. What do you use?

Hi Laurie as always thanks for your tireless work and a great program I use daily. I am using JTDX with Alert 2.50.1and log with HRD 6.7.0.357. I believe 2.50.1 was suppose to remedy this but the problem is still happening. Attached are excerpts from my HRD log and from JTDX to show that JTAlert is still inserting FT8 with submode FT4 into HRD logbook contacts. Un-noticed when uploaded to LOTW they become FT4 contacts not FT8 I have been fighting this happening for couple of weeks now if not longer.
See attached please.

This is from JTDX the saved transmission from a FT8 contact that is logged with submode FT4:
2982 ~ WA4MIT N5EYT -01
20210613_000400.058(0)  Transmitting 14.074 MHz  FT8:  N5EYT WA4MIT R-04
20210613_000415 -18  1.8 2983 ~ WA4MIT N5EYT RR73         ^
20210613_000430.140(0)  Transmitting 14.074 MHz  FT8:  N5EYT WA4MIT 73
20210613_000438.090(0)  QSO logged: N5EYT

screen shot from my logbook of this contact clearly shows the submode FT4 added.

Thanks 73 Morris wA4MIT

Hi Paul,

How did you get to the file?

You have to go to Control Panel, and under Programs there is an option to Uninstall a program. Click that, and under Programs and Features, click on Uninstall a program, and wait for it to populate fully.

Close to the top you should see Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime - 5.0.7.
If you click on that, you should get 3 options in the highlighted bar at the top. They read Organise, Uninstall and Change.
Clicking on Uninstall will delete it, with all the usual warnings etc.

When that has successfully been removed, then you can install 5.0.6 again.

When "Auto clear triggered Alert entity after logging" is selected on any alerts the logging prompt window is displayed for 10 seconds, not 5 as set. If all of the auto clear options are cleared the logging prompt reverts to the selected value.

Can the program be designed such that the selected prompt display value is actually used when auto clear options are selected?

Terminology is important. You're referring to the Logging Success popup, it is not a Logging Prompt. JTAlert does not have a Logging Prompt window/popup, WSJT-X/JTDX have a Logging Prompt window. The subject of this message thread has been updated to reflect this.

The 5 second versus 10 second display time is by design and has been that way since JTAlert 2.16.13 (29-Aug-2020). From the release notes...
  Changes:

    - Logging Success Popop: The display time for this popup is increased to 10
seconds (default is 5 seconds) if one or more of the Wanted Alerts is set
to have their "Needed" settings automatically adjusted when logging a QSO
as per the new "Auto clear triggered Alert entity after logging" feature.
The increase display time is to provide sufficient time to review what
changes have been automatically applied to the internal Alert Database.

Until now there have been no complaints about this increased display time when Alerts are set to auto-clear.

I will make that a user settable option in future release, it has been added to the todo-list. But don't expect instant gratification, this type of change is not high-priority and is not likely to be implemented any time soon, sorry.

I'm also having the same issue with 2.50.1 - sounds are clipped.  With Sound On, Call sign window disapears and then re-appears on a notification.  What is the fix for this?

This has been discussed here on the support forum. A fix (workaround) has been posted.
