locked Loss of function after about 15 minutes

I have been using JT Alert to good effect for a couple of years now.

I love it!  It has bee responsible for many new band/countries for me.

I did the update to 2.50.1 and love it except that it stops functioning

after about 15 minutes.  I restart it and it works great again…for about

15 minutes.

I rechecked the UDP settings in both programs.

I rebooted the computer…didn’t fix it.

I reinstalled JT Alert and the problem continued regardless.

All the time WSJT-X continues to function without a hitch…with

or without JT Alert.

I appreciate any and all help/suggestions.

Laurie,
I should have clarified my question. I use the grid alarm in JTA now. Just wish it would only look at those 488 grids not every grid. Or make it so I can pick and choose which 6m/2m grids I am looking for. Maybe 2 Grid tabs one for All Grids and one for just for Fred Fish grids so alarms are more meaningful.
I can send you the list of 488 grids if that would help.

Here's an example of the decodes window of JTAlert that has various alerts present. Note E27TE is a needed country, prefix and zones but the country is not highlighted.

JTAlert will used WSJT-X's port on 2237.

Then set up JTAlert to forward to GridTracker on a different port...for example 2334 (the default) and set GridTracker to Receive UPD Messages on port 2334.

Hi Laurie,

Thanks for a really nice program, it works great for me and is very user friendly!

I noticed on the Decodes Window that new states, grids, zones, prefixes are highlighted but new countries are not. Perhaps this can be added at some point, I know you are in a rewrite.

I find it useful to look at a column and easily ID the alerts.

You need to set up multicast and turn off the 2nd UDP server.

It's in JTAlert's Help -- search for multicast.

why not just minimize the main jta window, and leave the callsign window up only

Laurie,
Thank you...got it. I almost never use the opening window and only want to see the callsigns. So when chasing DX(i.e. 3A) When changing between clusters and bands, that screen keeps popping up over the waterfall hi. I have my screen set up in 4 mostly equal quadrants, WSJTx top left, cluster top right, waterfall bottom right and JTAlert callsigns bottom left. When changing clusters the larger screen covers the waterfall.

I know...a separate monitor for the cluster...I have but a pain to keep it right also.

This is all minor stuff, but just wondering if I could change the size or default to the call sign screen.

Thank you for a game changing piece of software and the constant attention to it's excellence.

OK.

I went onto the server and was able to recover your support request files before the daily file cleanup removed them.

I note several issues.
  1. You have WSJT-X set to run with elevated privileges (Run as administrator). There is never any need to do this and is likely one of the causes of the UDP error.

  2. You have the UDP Server port set in WSJT-X to 7825. This is an unusual number, It looks like one of the HRD port numbers. Are you running HRD? If not, that port may be getting used by some other app on your PC. I suggest changing it back to the default 2237.

  3. I note that none (zero) of the several files that get created by the JTAlertV2.Manager.exe process are present, indicating that this process was never run. It is automatically launched by JTAlert. It would appear that what ever is the cause of the JTAlert shutdown is occurring before it has been able to launch the Manager process.

  4. Since JTAlert is closing without presenting an error window it is unlikely an internal code error is the cause of the JTAlert shutdown. Most likely your PC protection software is interfering, especially if there is a privileges mismatch between JTAlert and WSJT-X. What protection software do you use?

  5.  I note JTAlert is installed under D:\Program Files (x86)\. That is not normally a problem as JTAlert is coded to work under the Windows protected "Program Files..." directory trees, but given the privileges problems, perhaps your Protection software is also disliking this install location. Try installing JTAlert in a dedicated directory out side of the protected directories.

Make sure you using the Contact Support link from JTAlert 2.50.1, and leave JTAlert running for at least 3 minutes before sending the request.
