I am trying to narrow this down and have some new information...
* deleted the configuration file again.
* Launched JTAlert and let it run for several minutes to confirm it wasn't going to crash
* Went in to JTAlert settings and changed ONLY what is circled below:

* I did not rebuild the database.
* In less than a minute, JTAlert silently disappeared.

I have HRD v6.7.0.323.  This particular logbook has 8,668 QSOs in it.

Hello Laurie-

See attached screenshots.

1.) Running 8 instances of WSJT-X and JTAlert. Receiving UDP Comm Failure on instance 8.
Each instance of WSJT-X has a unique UDP Port number.

2.) Instance #1 does not always display the Band and Mode.

3.) If all 8 instances of WSJT-X are up and starting JTAlert instances, JTAlert sometimes misses an instance of WSJT-X. Best to start one instance of WSJT-X along with JTAlert and go on until all 8 instances are up.

The new call window is very flexible.

Thanks;

That was one of the changed settings that didn't get documented.
I changed the default from single-click to double-click during development to avoid the numerous inadvertent initiating of QSOs while I was testing the windows.

The new windows, each have their own dedicated config file. I am moving away from the single-monolithic config file of the old JTAlert, which if there is a problem due to corruption losses all settings. Now with individual window-specific configs, at most the settings of one window will be lost if there is a file corruption event.

How can I change font color in Callsigns window?
Text color is dark grey and background is light grey, it is not contrasted for me.
I prefer text color might be "Black".

All Alert colors and that includes the Callsigns that don't generate Alerts are defined in the Settings window of the main JTAlert window. The old Settings window for want of a better description. Visit the "Alerts -> Miscellaneous Alerts -> No Alert" section and change there. The color change will be seen on the next decode period.

FYI eventually Alert colors will be moved over to the new .NET 5 code base. When that happens, color changes will be observed in real-time. That will happen when the Alerting logic code is moved into the new code. Sorry, there is no time-line for that change.

The problem has resurfaced.  Here are the steps that brought it back...
  1. After deleting the preferences database, JTAlert ran fine for at least 1/2 hour.
  2. I went into the settings and setup HRD Logbook.  (I have the latest HRD versions and patches.)
  3. I then tweaked some of the alerts to my liking -- enabled some, disabled some
  4. Next I shutdown JTAlert.  (This is how I used to do it with 2.16 as it would often crash after changing settings.)
  5. I restarted JTAlert and told it to rebuild the QSO database.  I processed ~8,000 QSOs from HRD and I saved the results.
  6. I shut it down again as in #4.
  7. I restarted it and within 30 seconds, I got the AutoIt error again.  (Same line #.)
Is there any kind of log or debugging information that I can capture for you?

So should I wait to allow M$ to fix this or can someone outline the procedure to avoid jumping thru all the hoops to keep the file?

Laurie:  Thank you.  I have always used a desktop shortcut to JTAlert so I never looked there.

Neil: See earlier in the thread.  Laurie asked me to restart the computer and it made no difference.  Only after I wiped the SQL preferences did the program remain stable.

I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it to download and KEEP.  Finally set an exclusion for my download folder and Windows still objected for several screens.  Finally got to the blue screen and was able to run the program anyway.  I was hoping for the new version would be more acceptable to all the virus scanners.  I only use Windows Defender on this machine.

JTAlert doesn't need to be running to access the Help files (and release notes). The installer adds shortcuts to the "HamApps JTAlert" start menu group. This has always been the case.

From my Win10 PC...

I seem to recall that Malwarebytes has blocked the UDP connections in the past.   You may want check if its setup to block ports.

I deleted everything in that folder and re-launched JTAlert.
So far, so good.  Running for 5 minutes as I write this.
