Hi Al,

this is expected. WSJT-X no longer sends multicast UDP datagrams on the default network interface. There is a JTAlert update on the way to account for that, until that is available you can *change* the "Outgoing interface" setting in WSJT-X "Settings->Reporting" to use the network interface on your machine that is your local subnet. Probably something like "wireless_0" or "ethernet_0".

I converted the HRD database from Access to MariaDB and it seems to be working better. It is odd that the issue only occurs with NA stations.  I used these instructions.

Dave,
Thanks for your response. I wonder if this could be due to some filtering setting. With that said, I'm seeing the US stations on the grid and I'm clicking on them to respond to CQs. If that was set, they shouldn't show up, right?

Off and on I've had trouble with JTAlert not responding in what I thought was random occurrences. In the last few days with the bands opening a bit and focusing on DX, I've noticed that it doesn't seem to have this issue when working DX stations. As soon as I click on a station in the US, the JTAlert memory jumps up about 10 MBs and the window shows not responding. If I let it sit, it will eventually quickly display what was missed and start functioning again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this?

Mike, I had a similar problem too,  I shut down JTaert to see and the problem disappears.  I then figure out it was coming from JTalert.  So I went to the config directory of JTAlert      C:\Users\(Your Callsign)\AppData\Local\HamApps\(Your Callsign)\config\JTAlertX      and in this directory you'll find config.sqlite and a bunch of other files ending with .sqlite.   They are all backup of the config.sqlite files.   Just pick one of them ( not the last )  at a previous date, before you have made the switch to version 2.16.15, and rename that file config.sqlite and delete the old config.sqlite.   This solve my problem, and hopefully solves problems of others hams too.   Let me know if this works for you.  Oh, and by the way, I rolled back to version 2.16.14 before I did this.  So now i'm at version 2.16.14 and hope for the next version coming soon.

Of course not...I've had similar problems before and there's never a reason.  I figure it's either automated or done by # of users accessing the site (minimal # that happen to be hams and use hamspots)

Thanks Laurie!!!  Works now!!!

I spent nearly 35 years in IT for Comcast and AT&T but since my big stroke in February I am not as sharp as I once was.  I usually remote control my PC and rig from my IPAD downstairs on the couch so JTALERT makes my operating so much better!!!  THANK YOU!!!

I have achieved DXCC on 40, 20, and 15M and WAS on 80, 40, 30, and 20M so far using a Drake TR7 and a 5BTV vertical at ground level.  Couldn’t have done it without you.

What do you mean by "I was in jail"? Are you getting an "Access Denied" message? If so, than likely your IP address has been blocked at the Server firewall. Send me you IP address and I will check. Use whatsmyip.org to find your IP.

If by mouse not working you mean that wsjtx is not responding to callsign clicks from JTAlert then check that you have the "Accept UDP requests" setting enabled in wsjtx

Norton! I'm not saying that is the problem, but enough people have had problems with Norton products over the years that I am inclined to think that may be the culprit. In my case I worked in a large corporate IT environment and so many of our problems were resolved by ditching Norton products across the company.

No, there is no limit to the number of Alerts that can be enabled. I run with all Alerts enabled.

JTAlert does not restrict the "Own Call" Alert to a one-time event. It is generated whenever someone calls you (that is your Callsign appears in a decode). JTAlert does not monitor the progress of QSOs so cannot make a decision as to whether to Alert you or not based on previous decodes.

I join the chorus of those having filter issues with latest JTAlert.  I have tried filtering out NA, and spot only those DX band entities I have not worked or confirmed.  I even tried to experiment with filtering by distance.  DXKeeper is my data base.  I make sure it and Spot Collector are running.  I am repeatably receiving alerts on entities I do not need.  DXView confirms this.  If I have confirmed the entity by any mode, I do not wish to see it spotted in JTAlert again simply because it is not confirmed through WSJT/Alert.

How do I accomplish this?

Jim K7EG

If JTAlert is alerting on an entity (DXCC or State or whatever) that you believe it should not be alerting, it is because that entity is still flagged within JTAlert as needed.
JTAlert will only remove an entity from the needed lists by running the "Alert Database Rebuild" operation which goes off and examines your Log (DXKeeper) to determine what is no longer needed.

If you believe there is a genuine problem when JTAlert is alerting on a Specific Entity despite that Entity being confirmed within DXKeeper then I will need to examine your DXKeeper log file. Use the "Help" -> "Contact Support" menu, on the main JTAlert window, to send me your JTAlert files for analysis. Include in that request a note of a specific Callsign (and the Band & Mode) that was Alerted when you beleive it should not be.

OK,

Then clear the PWR value in JTAlert. JTAlert remembers your last set value and will restore it when next started.

While checking the code I discovered a minor one-time anomaly with the PWR value save/restore. When setting the value to nothing, it is not saved unless there has been a logging event. This is now corrected for the next release.
