locked B4 Tracking of FT4 suddenly isn't happening anymore

KG5RJ

I've used WSJT-X with JTALERT and HRD for over a year suddenly about 2 weeks ago I stopped seeing B4 markings on FT4.  FT8 is fine but FT4 just shut down as far as identifying stations worked B4.  I can't tie it to any known changes or upgrades.  Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?  Over the year plus I've used this software I really haven't had any other problems.

locked Windows notification sounds

Joe <joe.baker324@...>

I have a problem with this update

"Windows notification sounds: Used by some JTAlert popup messages, like logging success/failure, have been replaced with a dedicated sound file/volume selection. See the "Alerts -> Miscellaneous Alerts Windows Notifications" section of the Settings window."

The same sound comes in even if you have a "failure" which does not catch my attention if a QSO fails to log while I'm looking at another screen. Also why wasn't there an option to keep the old windows alert, at least it played a different tone for failure or at the very least you could have added a separate alert for failure within the same menu.

I’ve had to go back to version 2.16.8 for now.

Jona,

How I got by it was turning Defender off.  Download and install and then turn Defender back on.

Craig, your post says you have been able to get the latest installation installed.  If so how did you manage this.  Or was that a typo?  I have not been able to get JTAlert to install this time.  In the past it has always worked with the exception listed for Windows Defender but not this time.  Each time I have tried it even deletes or moves the JTAlert install program from my downloads folder.

You have to open Windows Defender quarantine and "Allow" the JTAlert download.  Then you can download it again and install it.

I assume you added a folder exception for the directory Programs (x86)\HamApps

I found the problem. Log4OM had station WP2B country listed as “United States”. It should have been US Virgin Islands. Once I corrected it the country count was fixed. Thanks Laurie for your reply and for your outstanding software!

Kevin,

just because it doesn't happen to you, doesn't mean it doesn't happen to others.    Whenever Laurie releases a new version, there's a report of a virus, sure as clockwork.

The fact that you said Defender, then mentioned the Virustotal which also showed MS as flagging it didn't prove anything.   Defender is always one of the AV programs that flags the file.  The other is usually Norton ..

Neil,

I use Norton (at least for now), and very rarely get an actual virus warning. What I do get is a message saying the file is new, there are very few users, and it isn't trusted (or words to that effect). I click on "Trust" and all is well.

Hi Laurie - I hope your doing well. As others have noted, there is an install issue associated with Windows Defender and/or with the installed virus software.  I have read response posts from the group but even with turning off or adding an exception file reference, have I been able to get successfully download / install the latest software.  Is there a recommendation that you have or have published for this install?

Hi Laurie
I have solved the problem with your instructions in your email.
Thank you
Right now I'm at work installing Microsoft.NET and JTALERT and in the afternoon when I get home, I will try both packages again and launch them together with WSJT-X and JTDX

Wilfredo,

Until you can install the .NET Framework you will not be able to install JTAlert.

The error message translates to "A certificate chain could not be created in a trusted root certification authority".

This indicates a problem with your Windows installation with out of date security certificates. They will need to be updated.

Perhaps this link will help..

If you are unable to update your certificates, I suggest you source some local help from an experienced IT user who is experience with Windows troubleshooting.

Herb,

Is the Decodes window being updated while the Statistics is not?
How big is your decoded database (number of records)?

Probably the easiest fix is to delete the decodes database before starting JTAlert. You should only need to do this the once. Delete all files with a name starting with "decodes", there may be up to 3 files. In the following directory %localappdata%\HamApps\JTAlert\YOUR_CALLSIGN\Decode\

The JTA grid alert is now working properly, finally, after reverting back to normal configurations (in JTAlert, DXKeeper, WSJT) after the VHF contest.

Once I determine what had gone wrong earlier, during the contest, that will be posted here.

Thanks again Laurie and Tom.    73 de Mark.

(Sorry about the two separate postings on this topic.)

Thanks Laurie

Heck no rush at all from me - it’s the 1st time in 2-3 years of using JTA that I looked at that option.

Just reporting it in case it was significant.

Tom,

The number of viewed records should not affect the Statistics display. I always run with 100. I suspect a timing issue.

Unfortunately, the code base for the Decodes window, originally ported over from the ongoing JTAlertV3 project has become obsolete and is no longer receiving any significant updates or feature additions, only defect fixes if they don't involve significant code changes. Eventually the new JTAlertV3 version of the Decodes window will be ported over to JTAlertV2, but there is no ETA on that.

Tom,

Your correct, it is not normal. On first display all counts will be zero but they get updated as the statistics gathering code, run on an independent thread, starts returning results. It is unclear why your not initially getting results.

Jesus,

It looks like JTAlert is being prevented from downloading the data from the HamSoots server or the connection is timing out. Please use the "Help" -> "Contact Support" menu, on the main JTAlert window, to send me your JTAlert files for analysis.

Harry,

After you updated Log4OM with your LoTW confirmations did you run the "Scan Log" in JTAlert? That needs to be done in order to get the Wanted Lists updated with the current confirmations from your Log.
