Hi Joe,

Thanks for the report. I can confirm the defect, now corrected for the next release.

FWIW, this unwanted behavior was due to a specific parameter (unrelated to virtual desktops) being used in that creation code for that window.

Yeah, I see this too.  It’s been like that for the year+ I’ve used JTA.  It’s a desktop/workspace issue.  Nothing to do with multiple monitors.

While I do have multiple monitors, I don't believe this is a multiple window problem, but a multiple desktop problem since the window does not appear on both monitors, but on all my virtual desktops.

The other thing I notice is if I hit the Win+Tab keys to get a thumbnail view, there is no thumbnail of the alert types window.  But the thumbnail view of the desktops shows the alert types window present on all the desktops.

I think there is something different about the attributes of the alert types window when it's created.

Using WSJT-X 2.2.2, JTAlert 2.16.8, and ACLog 6.6 in Win10.  When I log a contact in WSJT-X, the data is partially transferred to ACLog. If the name is John Q. Public, JOHN is transferred.  The City is not transferred to ACLog where it should go into Other8 in this case.

When I enter the callsign, I get the full name and city retrieved from QRZ and then have to enter the data by hand.

I don't know if this is a QRZ, JTAlert or ACLog problem.

Thanks in advance.

I assume you mean multiple monitors?

What connection do you have for your monitors?  SVGA, HDMI, DPI?

What video card?  Are your video card drivers up-to-date?

And I guess you have the "extended" desktop setup?

The two windows are independent?  You can move one without moving the other?

This sounds pretty strange.

No idea how it happened, but the WSJT-X UDP for FT8 configuration was one digit off from my other configurations.

DUH! Because my grid is in the standard messages (from WSJT-), I didn't pay attention to the Call sign screen (even though I did look at it for something else). Old settings probably got wiped when I was trying to solve my slow form update problem.

John,

The need to set your Grid in JTAlert is historical, dating back to the pre WSJT-X days of JT65-HF.

Already on the todo list is to abandon the need to set your Grid & Station Callsign and use the values passed in the WSJT-X UDP Status message.

  • What version of WSJT-X?
  • What version of JTAlert?
  • Are you using a --rig-name parameter with WSJT-X?
  • Is this in a single or multi instance JTAlert/WSJT-X environment?
  • Does the newly switched to WSJT-X configuration have the UDP Server settings correctly set.

Mike,

Not possible. Apart from the target in a targeted CQ  (directed CQ) JTAlert doesn't track the contents of individual decodes, so has no way of knowing, based on the decode message, if the DX has started working NA.

This statement confuses me...
so that
I can know that the 6meter band is opening
up to foreign DX !

Surely, if JTAlert has decoded DX stations, you already know that the Band has opened up to foreign DX. Am I missing something in your statement?

If you simply want to be alerted to a Band opening that likely includes DX stations try setting the "Out of Shack" Alert. You can set the alert to trigger on any new decodes to indicate a previously dead band has opened or set a distance value such that local (domestic) decodes don't trigger the alert, but newly decoded DX stations do trigger the Alert. This Alert can also be set to only trigger if specific Wanted Alerts are triggered. Once the OOS Alert has triggered and gained you attention, it should be turned off which will then revert to normal Alerting based on your needed requirements.

Laurie, you don't see the From lines?

No, I gave up reporting the error.. your answer is always the same.
It makes no difference what port I choose to have wsjt-x or jtdx to use the results are the same.
consequently I don't bother to turn on the 7300.  everything worked fine when I loaded everything back in 2016..

I had that issue a week or so back and it was fixed by Laurie who posted the reason on here.

Your alerts probably have no path defined for the wave files. I used the defaults for all mine and it worked.

I have sound when selecting "Test  "Sound Output" ... but no Alert Sounds otherwise.  On an older version of JTAlert, I was using "Wanted US State, Individual bands".  I had all but 4 states on 6 Meters and it worked great!  I have since cleared all of 6M states, but still do not get "Alert Sounds".  I have tried it on two Windows 10 PC, and have identical sound problems.  Your help is appreciated.
