Re: [Ham-Apps] JT-Alert window width

Altering the JT-Alert-X window width to match the reduced width of
wsjt-x has several issue that need to be considered.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
The above points, at a minimum, would double the vertical display
area of JT-Alert-X. Reducing the width will not free up desktop space as some would
hope. It is unlikely that you will see a revised layout until late in
the year. de Laurie VK3AMA

I changed the number of calls displayed from 8 to 6
and the window width never changes only the width of the individual station callsign windows changes so depending on the font size used by the user...... & since this would be a 'drag the window edge' type 'user' option I don't see where it would hurt those who wanted the number of callsigns shown to remain as is?? I don't see how you could shrink JT-Alert-X without reducing the number of calls it displays. I'd rather it stays as it is rather than lose information in order to make it smaller.

Sam, Sorry that I misunderstood. My primary reason for wanting WSJT-X to be extendable was to "tidy-up" my desktop. I have thought about doing something similar to what you have proposed. I have a Flex-5000 with a second receiver and if I create a couple more virtual cables, I can view JT65 and JT9 at the same time. I had not considered "split" operation for transmit, but that might just work. For a number of reasons, I should probable look into a second monitor and video card that supports it or a larger monitor. Money, money, money... Ed, K0KC

Sam, The latest version of WSJT-X can be extended horizontally to match JT-Alert-X. The same goes for the waterfall, but you will have to play with the settings to get all 1 KHz to show and when you do, you will have a black area to the right with no waterfall. I have all three of my windows aligned in this fashion, but the waterfall only extends to 2 KHz and the black area I mentioned extends from 2.0 KHz to 2.3 KHz. Ed, K0KC

Hi Phil
You have to use JT-Alert X 2.2.2 and JT-Alert X Macros 2.2.2. JT-Alert is
for JT65-HF.
Hope this helps.

Oooppps! Silly me! I have just realised I had the JT-Macros for JT65, not the correct one for WSJT-x. I had put the qualifier in, but somehow deleted it.
I have now corrected that, and all is well!
Apologies for the brain-fade!

I am running JT-Alert 2.2.2 and JT-Macros 2.2.2. I've had a look through the setup, but cannot see anything at all that may affect the operation of JT-Macros. Am I missing something that needs to be set? 73 de Phil GU0SUP

In the WSJTX folder look at the file " All" It's a record of all
you transmit and all the program decoded. Is that what you're
looking for?

JT-Alert-X can produce a csv file of received
decodes. It is disabled by default. Visit the Miscellaneous
section of the Settings window. The path for the file is fixed.
The instructions refer to the JT65-HF history file, you can ignore
that comment, I need to reword for WSJT-X.

The Decodes History file, also contains the alerts that would have been trigered by the decode. There is a help topic in the help file (which still needs to be updated for WSJT-X), click the "?" button. de Laurie VK3AMA

A warning about registry cleaners and WSJT-X
Laurie, VK3AMA <groups04@...>
I have had several users complaining that
JT-Alert-X doesn't display any callsigns or had stopped
displaying callsigns, despite there being decodes within WSJT-X.
Examining the session file for these has shown that JT-Alert was unable to locate the WSJT-X installation folder and couldn't read the necessary files. JT-Alert examines the Windows Registry for a specific key that gets written when WSJT-X is installed and it records the installation folder of WSJT-X. One user had manually moved the WSJT-X folder after installation, so the registry key now pointed to an invalid directory. For the other affected users, that registry key was unable to be read. On further investigation, they all had used an automated Registry Cleaner since WSJT-X had been installed. The quickest solution is to reinstall WSJT-X. My advise regarding Registry Cleaners, if you must use them, look at the results they display before blindly accepting the results. While they will clean-up orphaned entries, in many cases they also remove valid data that may affect the running of software and in severe situations, render your Operating System significantly compromised that a Windows re-installation may be necessary. de Laurie VK3AMA

Hi all, I am running JT-Alert v2.2.2 and just noticed that any call that is a new DXCC is not always showing the colour and font that I had chosen. I kept hearing NEW DXCC, but the colours were always green with black writing, as per a normal callsign. I then went into CONFIG, and saw that the DXCC tab was set to show a new DXCC in yellow with red writing. I clicked on each setting and set them tot he default colours (yellow with red writing), and then started to see any new DXCC come up as that. However, since setting that, I have noticed that it doesn't always show up correctly. For example, I have just been watching MJ0LEL working various JA's, and after "changing" the setting, he was coming up correctly, even when in a QSO, but after just a few overs, his callsign was back to being green with black text. Is this a bug that has already been reported? Or maybe it is not a bug. I think I am seeing the same with NEW CONTINENT too, but have not decoded any new continent callsigns to be able to verify this. I know they used to come up with a brownish background, but I have not seen that recently. 73 de Phil GU0SUP ------------------------------------ Yahoo!7 Groups Links <*> To visit your group on the web, go to: http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ham-Apps/ <*> Your email settings: Individual Email | Traditional <*> To change settings online go to: http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ham-Apps/join (Yahoo!
