Have to agree with Neil.  I've been living with that false positive for quite some time.  ZERO problems.

The version you're currently using, 2.15.1 has been superceded by at least 8 versions since then.    Download v2.16.5, whitelist the installer and the hamapps directory in Defender, and install the program.

If you can't whitelist, get a real antivirus program that gives you the opportunity to automatically submit the file for review by the AV program's 'lab'.

Finally, you really shouldn't hijack an existing thread as it tends to confuse readers who are tracking the original issue.

As I mentioned in the original thread - which this has branched away from, not all users are using JT-Alert ... you can tell who is by the way their callsign is displayed in JT-Alert, the callsign is UNDERLINED !!

Just because they're in the band activity window, doesn't mean that they're using JT-Alert.  The only way you know that they're using JT-Alert and have text messaging turned on is that the displayed callsign in JT-Alert is UNDERLINED.   I suspect all those callsigns were not using JT-Alert.

locked SOLVED ?? [HamApps] Text Message Window 'Offline' ??

Mike Rhodes

Well, that was interesting - and completely unexpected!
I have not done a cold boot yet and it appears that it will not be needed. Out of sheer laziness (not wanting to shut down and wait for restart), I tried another call and was rewarded with 'online' which completely surprised me. With that one success in hand, I decided I needed a bit more info. I grabbed 20 calls from the 'activity' window - 14 US and 6 DX - and found that 3 DX (15%) and 5 US (25%) stations were 'online' (40% online) with 3 DX (15%) and 9 US (45%) 'offline'(60% offline). I'm shocked and wondering why that is. I guess not as many WSJT-X users are using JTAlert ?? Naturally, the ones I wanted to message always seem to turn up 'offline'.

Thanks,
Mike / W8DN

Just to verify, you're using JT-Alert v2.16.5 ? Not 12.6.5, right?

Did you run the the tests in the SETTINGS -> Web Services -> TCP/IP Network Ports to see if you're connecting?

I am noticing similar sporadic logging to Log4OM V2 log where some get logged and some don't since installing wsjt-x v2.2.0-rc1. I did notice that on the "Reporting" Setting tab that Secondary UDP Server now says (deprecated) and was disabled, but this wasn't the solution to fix it.

After 5 - 10 minutes, JTAlert  v2.16.5 stops showing call signs, and sending contacts to my logging program.  Stops displaying call signs in the middle of putting up the list from a cycle (somewhere in the first row).  Running WSJT-X v2.2.0-rc1.  Log4OM v1.  Windows 10.  Have rebooted computer several times.  Used same settings as with previous versions that worked.  Any ideas?

Sorry to bother with this but am at a loss as to how to resolve my issue.
The issue is that JT Alerts V2.16.5 won't run.
Windows 10 throws an error message stating that the shortcut is not longer valid.

On a Win10 search, attempts to load the JT Alerts app result in the same error as do attempts to run with administrator rights.
Attempts to uninstall/reinstall JT Alerts yielded the same results.

I was happily running LOG4OM V1.41.0.0, with JT Alerts and WSJT-X logging thousands of QSO's for several years with no issues on this PC.
This mess all started when I upgraded to LOG4OM V2 this week. It needed a new version of JT Alerts to interface to it because LOG4OM V2 was not a logging option in JT Alerts V2.12 that I was running, at shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g75H9nYks8

I also upgraded to WSJT-X V2.1.2, 64 bit. It ran fine. Thinking the 64 bit version was causing issues with JT Alerts, I uninstalled the 64 bit version and installed the 32 bit version of WSJT-X. It runs fine too but no change to JT Alerts issue.  I know - an egregious sin.  I changed more than one thing at a time.

There were no other changes to the PC between version installation attempts.  I run McAfee, Defender and Malwarebytes on a vanilla Dell XPS laptop with the config shown below.

Copy of my system info:

I have never before witnessed this behavior from Win 10.  Hoping someone can point out the obvious that has escaped me thus far.
Thanks in advance.

I recently updated to JTAlert 2.16.5.  Everything works great except when I "hover" over a non-US call sign and the popup window with call sign info appears, the country is not shown. My previous version showed the country.  Any suggestions?

Either everyone has turned off the text messaging function or I have
something wrong. I have yet to find a callsign that does not show

upgrading and the text window settings look correct. I have rebooted and
