To update this issue: Using JTAlert 15.6 now. It did not occur over the weekend but is now happening again this AM when occurs the program does not start up with the latest program update info showing. The calls it will not lookup are in QRZ I can hit the lookup button
and QRZ page comes up with callsign info it is just not doing this when inserting callsign from a double click in JTDX. If the callsign in question is in my log the data shows up. I can only remedy this by doing a computer restart.

Anyone got a way around this problem? (Using the latest release of JTAlert).

Hi Laurie,

I wrote you direct on December 12th with some thoughts on QSO verification.  It's nothing urgent and there is no need to reply.  I just wanted to make sure you received the e-mail.

I changed the mode in "Alerts/Wanted DXCC/Any Band" from "Any Digital Mode" to "Any mode". Now I get alerts for Z3, with FT8.

Is it wrong to set "Any Digital Mode" for FT8 with WSJT-X?

marsip@...

I'm hunting DXCC, and need North Macedonia.
I have North Macedonia Z3, confirmed on eQSL, but not on LoTW.
I have done a log scan with only LoTW enabled.
In Alerts, Wanted DXCC, Any band, North Macedonia is in the wanted list, which is ok.

Filters:

But Z3 stations doesn't generate alerts. They are marked green (already confirmed).

TURN OFF McAfee, then download.

AS IS LISTED on the Hamapps site, there are no viruses in the installation program.    After you installed, setup McAfee to EXCLUDE the HAMAPPS directory from scans, or it will probably delete needed files.

That said, get rid of McAfee, the company is living on past laurels and get something else.   It causes more problems with ham applications since they aren't widely used.

Don,

What log type do you have enabled within JTAlert?

Please provide a screen-capture of the error window (not you entire desktop!). I could not find anywhere in the code where that particular error message is shown.

I strongly advise you upgrade your JTAlert version. I no longer support such old versions and if a defect is discovered it will only get corrected in the new releases.

Terry,

A number of users have been experiencing intermittent failures of one or more of the modules handled by the new JTALertV2.Manager process (which handles xml lookups among other tasks). This was more common on under-powered or high CPU utilization PCs. Changes have been made to the initialization sequence of the Manager process and those users affected have reported now correct operation. Check your email, I have sent you a link to the latest Beta build to test.

The only critical startup sequence is that WSJT-X has to be running before JTAlert. But JTAlert already takes care of that by presenting a popup message and pauses until WSJT-X has started.

Thanks Bill,

That was what I was looking for.
There are so many adjustments in JTAlert (A good thing)  that I missed that one.
I am not paying any one for an award and don't like working a parameter more than I need to, I clogs up the bands.
So I rely on the alerts to help make new contacts.

Thanks again,

Don,

you decide what constitutes a confirmation in the JTAlert "Scan Log and Update" settings. If you are chasing a Zone award then yes you need a confirmation and you need repeated alerts to locate new confirmation opportunities, if you are just chasing zones for your own interest you might set the confirmation as satisfied by worked only. If you are not interested in zones then turn off the alert or otherwise silence it.

JTAlert by design will not repeat an Alert once a Station has been worked and becomes a B4. Any future decodes of that Station on the current Band will NOT produce the Alert. If your experiencing otherwise it is likely that you have the "Ignore B4" option set for that Alert, in which case the Alert will be played every-time that Station is decoded.

JTAlert has no way of knowing if the playing of an audio alert if it is new for the current session or has been played multiple times in a session and that it is annoying to you. Go into the settings and drop the volume of the zone audio alert down to zero or clear the audio wave file. But this then means you will miss an audio alert for a zone that may be brand new for the current Band.

It is up to you how you want to manage this. There is no Artificial Intelligence built into JTAlert, the only intelligent part of JTAlert is the operator of the software.
