2.15.1 uses new .NET audio code unlike the XP era code used in the older JTAlert builds. When you say the audio is clipped, what is missing the start or the end of the sound? Which part of the sound is clipped will help isolate what is happening.

Are those warnings "Unknown Publisher" warnings? If so, that is due to the installer file not being digitally signed. These are a form of reputation warning that the software comes from an unknown so potentially untrusted source. Paying several hundred $ per year for a digital certificate from a reputable provider is not an option at this time.

Laurie, Just loaded 2.15.1 with the few usual warnings from Norton and Defender, but just sailed thru with a smooth transition.  I'm Windows 10, and use the regular version and have never had problems.  Guess I'm just a lucky duck, and wanted you to know it works great. 73, Herb WB8ASI

Its likely a timing issue, the background task that downloads the versions file hasn't started or is in-progress. Use the "Check for Updates" button to initiate a download of the versions file.

Significant in this release are the reduced Settings window load times and the removal of the plugins manager file and all 15 plugin files, the source of recent false-positive reports.

Please review the Release notes at the end of this message.

As usual the JTAlert installer file has been run through VirusTotal.
HamApps.com has the link to the full analysis results. The installer file produced one false-positive. The Trapmine warning is a machine-learning (ml) warning which is similar to the reputation type warnings (low installed user-base). This is a false-positives not identifying a know threat.

    - Decreased load times when opening the Settings window. This will be most
       noticeable for users running older PC hardware.

    - Callsign validation has been simplified. When processing decodes or entering
       Callsigns for the Wanted Callsign and Ignored Callsign alerts only minimal

       of special event Callsigns that don't follow traditional Callsign layout
       that are now very common on the bands. Words that don't pass these rules
       are deemed invalid and ignored, less than 3 characters, all numbers or
       all letters, looks like a 4 character Grid and "TU73".

I am getting that error when I try to download.

AVG is my Antivirus program which is saying the download site "files.hamapps.com"
is infected with "URL.Blacklist"

Or am I mistaken?

FWIW ... the paid version of AVG Internet Security allows you to send the file to AVG for analysis, usually comes back within 15 minutes as OK.     I've done that a number of times.

i have been running jtalert latest level for good while..all ok...until...
AVG updated a couple days ago..then it gave a virus warning as all are getting..
it quarantined files and blocked running and downloading of jtalert..
i went into AVG settings and set the action to take to "ASK"
what  to do and not to automatically quarantine the files.
this also "ASK" what to do for "SUSPECT' files that are
que'd to be downloaded..
i also excluded all ham folders..wsjts..jtalert...
all ok now...

Would it be a good idea, if possible of course, to add a similar message about false positives to the installer (short and sweet) before the installer itself runs?

This incessant topic of ‘I have a virus’ seems daily now and must take a lot of unnecessary support effort from yourself and main contributors.

 

It is the biggest FAQ (when I see another one I usually exclaim ‘FAQ not again’ or something similar.

The files are now being delivered via a new url (not via dnl.hamapps.com). I suggest you do this quickly before Avast decides to blacklist the new url due to there false-flagging of JTAlert.

That "Warning" window, without mention of the program generating the warning, is NOT coming from JTAlert. Most likely it is from HRD, especially since your experiencing duplicate logged QSOs which is an indication that HRDLogbook is logging WSJT-X qso directly as well as accepting log qso instructions from JTAlert. If you want to use JTAlert and its alerting, it needs to know about QSOs being logged (that is it initiated the logging) and not have QSOs logged bypassing JTAlert which affect its B4 reporting and accurate reporting of needed entities. I suggest you turn off HRDLogbook direct logging of WSJT-X QSOs.

Yes ,a PITA this is and the easy solution is to get rid of all AV software. It cannot protect you from the real bad stuff (ZERO DAY) anyway. Good backup strategy can.

Using Win 10, external sound card & Serial to USB adapter for TS2000.
My FT4/8 QSO's are being forwarded to HRD Logbook.  However at beginning of each new session the first three calls get duplicated in the logbook.  Then afterwards all entered singularly as normal.  Also get a box saying 'Unable to relay contact' etc in some of the single entries as in attached photo.  Which programme does that come from and how to stop it.  Sometimes the ALE of HRD Logbook gets filled in automatically, sometimes it doesn't?

Otherwise all the programmes run smoothly together.
