If it's not to much of a problem I sure could use a copy of JT-Alert v1.5.9.. I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 and JT65HF in wine and can't get 2.0 to install..

I'm working on JT65 ePFX 300 and JT65 dxcc and I'm down to my last 20 on JT65 and last 10 on DXCC and it's getting to be a real pain to manually check worked B4 status in my logs

--- In Ham-Apps@yahoogroups.com.au, Dave Wright wrote:

Thanks, David.

The "why" is that I'm looking to run JT-Alert in Crossover/WINE, and v2.0 and above do not install. I mostly use JT-Alert for "worked B4" checking, so v1.5.9 (the last that I KNOW works 100% in Crossover/WINE) is all I really need.

So, it will be nice to have JT-Alert back up and running…and I'll keep working to get v2 running as well.

Laurie,

WSJT-X is currently a single decode under the cursor.
If you are quick on the draw, you can move the cursor and hit the decode
button to process another signal, but you have ~4 seconds less than with
JT-65 between cycles so it is tough.

Hi Julian,

I plan to investigate WSJT-X. Once I get the next release out, I'll spend
some time investigation WSJT-X.

Quick question, does it support multiple signal decode, or is it like
JT65-HF when running with multi disabled?

Have you thought about doing a version of JT-Alert for WSJT-X? It would be
great to have the alerts and logging in Joe Taylor's new application!

Laurie, VK3AMA <groups04@...>

Richard,

I answered your direct email yesterday answering this question.

For the benefit of the group...
1.6.0 settings were saved in a .ini file, 2.x saves to an sqlite file and will auto-convert the settings when 2.x is first run. So your old .ini file is still present. The settings file contains the data pointing to your log and B4 files so your B4 calls wont be lost.

If you want to save your configuration and other data before you do an upgrade just make a copy of this directory (and subdirectories)...
Vista/Win7/Win8    C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Ham-Apps\JT-Alert\\
XP    C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Ham-Apps\JT-Alert\\

Please note: JT-Alert sounds files for 1.x are not compatible with 2.x so you will need to install the ver 2 sounds. After a ver 1.x upgrade to v 2.x you will need to visit each alert section of the settings to set the sound file path as these paths are not transferred in the upgrade.

I wish!
I have become so spoiled by the features that JT-Alert provides; I really
miss them when working JT9-1.
JT9-1 does write a text file to the hard drive on every decode cycle, and I
thought about trying to cobble together something that would read the file
and at least provide an audible alert and maybe implement the "B4" function
of JT-Alert, but I just don't have the skills to do that.

Laurie, VK3AMA <groups04@...>

OK Brian,

If your updating the adif file with additional QSOs outside of JT-Alert, that is OK also, provided JT-Alert is not running when those additonal QSOs are added.

When JT-Alert is started, it examines the adif file for QSOs added since the last time JT-Alert added a QSO and updates a cached sqlite file that JT-Alert uses for significant speed and lookup reasons compared to a raw adif file. JT-Alert automatically keeps the SQLite cache file in sync with the adif file. This is why you cant have other applications adding QSOs to the adif file while JT-Alert is running as JT-Alert is unaware of those additional QSOs.

I probably confused you more with the above explanation ;)

David,

The updater is probably trying to install the error page that is being sent from the Ham-Apps.com server rather than the true install file.

Hi all...i want to add a little bit to Laurie's comments re JT65-HF and JT-Alert under Wine
i was the first op to try JT65-HF under Wine and found that it worked much to the surprise of Joe W6CQZ
when Laurie first put out JT-Alert i tried it under Wine and found it crashed JT65-HF when the mouse was
moved over it...
Laurie and I have spent quite a bit of time between us trying to fix the problem to no avail
I suggested to Laurie not to worry and keep on the good work that he is doing

I use JT-Macros under Wine without any problems

Yesterday when Laurie mentioned HamSpots in his e-mail about shifting servers I went back and had a look at that program
and am now using it and like it very much

Laurie is a very good program author who puts up with a lot of complaints...i take my hat off to him
