locked Speaking of Title Bars

@Daveq

I just noticed that I now have a (!) in my title bar along with the normal info I’ve always had. I always read the release notes but could not find anything describing it in the last few notes.

Just wondering.

locked Windows 10 October Update (1809) is Back

K1DJE - Dave Corio

Microsoft has been re-releasing their October Windows 10 update that had been recalled shortly after the original release. I upgraded to it today.

The main problem for JTAlert is the loss of part of the menu bar as had been reported when this update was first presented. This is easily solved by installing the "AL" version of JTAlert. There were several minor issues as well:

"Onedrive" is defaulted to "On". Uninstalled it as I use a different off-site storage.
All my custom fonts for Windows were returned to default system fonts.
My custom scrollbar widths were also returned to default system settings.
There are a couple of "new" items taking up resources, such as "Microsoft Text Entry" showing up in Task Manager. Have to track them down.
The Windows Defender antivirus appears to have some cosmetic changes although seems to operate the same.

All my drives, internal & remote, were intact. COM ports haven't changed, and audio paths (IC-7200 USB) and RealTek onboard were also intact.

The sky didn't fall and the earth is still rotating! The update took about  3 hours on 1M cable modem, and another hour to track down the listed issues.

73 es Happy New Year to all!

At one time, when I double clicked on a call displayed in JT Alert, it would set the active call in WSJT-X to be that call and enable transmit. Now sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't.

Is there a setting that has changed, or is there something else I need to do? It doesn't have anything to do with whether the station is calling CQ or not.

Looks like you have > 100% on your fonts?

Try the alternate version.  You can probably see it all with that one.

Hallo. This is a similar band up to 6m. It happens interesting ES but in the summer. In addition, MS qso's.
FT8 in this moment only local tropo.
My biggest ES qso distance this year is UN3M in CW. In 2017 EA8DBM in CW also.
Tropo over 400km.

That is a WSJTx and not a JT Alert question, it's been ask and answered many times on the WSJTx forum.  Yes, it will be removed next release of WSJTx.

If your using HRD Logging ALL B4 checks are done against your HRD log. The B4Log.mdb file is ignored and not used, it is there for those users who don't use a logger with JTAlert.

I much prefer using JTAlert to WSJT-X's color coding.
So my plan is to simply start a new contest log file in Log4OM (you could do the same for DXKeeper) and Rescan/Update JTAlert to start with the empty file.

Then I'll just export/import the ADIF afterwords into my original log file.

This is related to the RTTY Roundup coming up, that will allow FT8 mode. I understand what I need to do with WSTJ-X, to have a clean start, i.e. replacing the logging files with empty files. However, I would love to continue to use my beloved JTAlert to determine whether a station is new or new on a particular band.

I have never used N3FJP logger before, but if I configure the use of this logger, will JTAlert behave as if I had an empty log, i.e. at the beginning of the contest no stations should be flagged as "B4"?

Would I have to unhook my standard logging program (DXK) for the duration of the contest?

Bernd,

You would need to change from using DXKeeper for logging and use the N3FJP RTTY Contest Log for the duration of the Contest. You will need to start with a new empty Contest log. You will not be able to utilise JTAlert to identify new stations on a new band like you would with your DXKeeper log. You will be in a Contest, so previous pre-contest contacts mean nothing, everyone will be new initially.

locked Re: Grid Chase

Mark Steele

Laurie,

Yes. So basically:

- WSJT-X would only show CQ's in the Band Activity window
- JTAlert would show filtered alerts for 'Wanted' contacts (CQ Marathon, wanted grids, etc.)
- Decodes history would ONLY show contacts that were worth ARRL Grid Chase points

So at the beginning of the month it was shooting fish in a barrel. By the 15th, I was hunting relentlessly for points QSO's. By the 25th, I was band hopping and working hours that were not normal for me to get contacts that were not on when I was on, and by the 30th I would usually call CQ to help others get FN20 grid if needed.

It made a huge difference - and I have a modest setup - for the first couple of months it was a low OFC Dipole inverted V - then I put in a 6BTV with ~90 radials - that made a difference. All this was done on a second hand FT-450D.
