It is in May QST page 62.  It uses a command line email program called “Caspian SendEmail”.

I got it going with my mail address, but it was too slow(Gmail).  So had it send a text to my Iphone. You create a .BAT file for the Sendemail.EXE application file.  It works fine.

It runs from your “User Defined Alert”.  With the .BAT file I used, it will trigger the email for all the alerts that are set in WSJT-X.  If there is one alert or 20 alerts it basically sends the email txt.

I am not familiar with the email program enough to see if you can set up the .BAT to trigger an ALERT by alert name instead of just being generic.  It is handy though, and helped me catch up with W8F today on a few bands today from outside and downstairs in my house.

Hi Kevin,

My bobo, it was my “.ATT.NET” that I ended up using.  I know that Gmail is a bit funny, and did not want to play with it too much.  There are a lot of settings if you log into their web page, but wanted the easy way out.

The response time with my ATT email was too slow, so after I got it going, I entered my TXT address instead of my email address and I get the TXT is just a few seconds.

WSJT-X has a simple log function for the bare necessities, which produces it's output to two files in the WSJT-X log directory, the wsjtx_log.adi file and the wsjtx.txt file, with the first one being the more comprehensive. WSJT-X has no upload functionality, but the log files can be imported into your logging software,as adi og text files  which will take care of upload to eQSL, LoTW, ClubLog, etc. Both HRD Logbook and Log4OM can take care of that.

If you add JTAlertX, it can take care of your logging, whether it is for HRD Logbook or for Log4OM, but you don't need HRD CAT control to use HRD Logbook. HRD CAT control just add one more element that can cause you problems, and it adds nothing to CAT control that WSJT-X doesn't have already.

WSJT-X was built expecting to run CAT control all by itself, but various CAT control packages/tools have been added to the list of rigs, among them HRD, DX Lab, HamLib and OmniRig. I guess that any radio that can be controlled by HRD v5, can be controlled by WSJT-X, directly from the same Radio menu where you selected Ham Radio Deluxe as your CAT control. HRD Logbook is a standalone part of the HRD suite, and does not need HRD CAT control.

Let WSJT-X run the radio through it's own CAT control. Add JTAlertX, to give you quite a number of nice user features, among them logging for HRD version 5 (and 6), and for Log4OM. From both of these logging softwares you can upload to eQSL, LoTW and Club Log.

I use WSJT-X, JTAlertX and HRD Logbook myself, and WSJT-X takes care of all CAT control without HRD. I upload to LoTW from HRD Logbook after every session, by five mouse clicks. Within very short 50 % of the WSJT-X QSOs are verified in LoTW. Works just fine.

So, is the fix to simply wait a while after changing the ADIF file to an updated one before a try the scan/rebuild?

John,

If you don't mind, I would like to examine your 63MB adif file.
Can you zip it up and email it to me directly (vk3ama.ham.apps [at] gmail.com)?

Another DX4Win user had a similar problem a while back, but repeated polite requests to view his adif file were ignored. I suspect there may be something unusual with the DX4Win adif formatting that is contributing to the excessive import delays of JTAlert.

John,

Sounds like your adif file may be quite large and JTAlert hasn't had time to background-process it into a database file suitable for scanning. This is especially true if your select the adif file and then immediately switch over to the Scan Log function.

How many QSOs are contained in the adif file?

Try this, start JTAlert, wait a few minutes, then open the Settings and perform the Scan. Does that work?

Let me know how you get on, and the size of your adif file.
