locked Not Wanted Count off...

Tim Elwell

Newbie here and my first post to this group. I've only been using JT-Alert for a couple weeks, but I've noticed in the last couple versions (I think since the 2.10.x) the Not Wanted Count is off by 1. It's not a huge deal, but I use it to cross-reference with my logging software to make sure I haven't missed anything. For instance, for the CQ Marathon, as I work a CQ Zone or Country, I take them from the "Wanted" list to the "Not Wanted" list. And though, there are 35 entries in the "Not Wanted" list (I've counted multiple times. hi hi), the count at the bottom of the list box says 34.

Hopefully, this hasn't been brought up before and I didn't see it. I did try look through posts and didn't see anything on this issue. Obviously, this isn't a huge deal, but I thought I'd bring it up to be put on the bug list.

Thanks for the great software, Laurie!

Older thread but as I continue to use JTALERT this has become even more important, so hope its something that you will consider in a future major version.

I really need to figure out a way to be alerted to new DX/per band without missing that rare never worked "blue" one.  It's not uncommon for me to miss a never worked country because the band is loaded with worked DX that just hasn't been worked on that band. I have 140 countries confirmed on FT8 and there are times I still  see 12 to 16 new DX/per band counties on JTalert.

Hope this makes sense. Worked all countries is most important with DXCC per band following a close second.

Thanks again for your efforts.  Can't say I have ever had ham radio software that has improved my enjoyment level more than JTALERT.

It seems that there is a bug or a have some wrong settings somewhere. I've disabled the grid chase and left only DXCC alerts.
I've worked before CE2AWW (yesterday and today). It still show as New ZONE and New DX. Same for 3B9FR.

Callsign History Window show the correct worked/confirmed bands.

And just noticed a new bug as writing this: Closing the Callsign History Window also close the JTAlertX. Same for other windows like Decode Histroy, Message History..

    Mike,

JTAlert V3 won't have hardcoded supported modes like V2. V3 being coded in an OOP language allows for much greater flexibility in the coding. Adding a supported mode (for decoding, alerting, call history, etc) will be as trivial as adding the mode to single enum in the code.

    Jim Cooper

OK, after reading a lot of the threads here
about slow display of the calls in the main JTalert
window, I've finally found a snappy solution ...
I'll even share the setting, but first a question ...

What short memories we have ... but I THOUGHT
the call display was more persistent (lasted longer)
than it seems to be now ... what is happening now
is that all the calls are displayed really, really fast
    after WSJT-X / FT8 finishes the decode ... and
they stay displayed until almost the end of that 'segment' ...
    on the 12th second ...

and if you are transmitting in the next segment,
they are displayed for the next 12 seconds ... however,
since there are no signals to decode while you were
transmitting, the next 15 seconds are BLANK ... while
they _could_ be left up for 'study' during that time.

I realize they have to be cleared before the decode
of the following segment (if not transmitting) posts,
but couldn't they be left showing until JUST before
the new batch are posted? This would give some time
for old eyes and slow brains to digest and decide !!

Being an old programmer, it seems like this would
just be inhibiting the 'clear' signal at the end of
    the transmitting segment.

Anyway, here's what I did to make things PERKY ...

First, in WJST i set (thanks to some comments in
this group) DECODE = FAST (Decode is a separate
tab at the top of the WJST window -- I say that
because twice I've had to hunt around for it!)

Then I set the Priority for JTdecodesHistory.plugin
to "Above Normal" and the Priority for JTalert.exe
to "Real Time" ... JTalertHelper.exe and
jt9.exe were left at "Normal" ..

    I'm using only a dual-core Intel E6550 at 2.33 GHz
with 4 GB of RAM and Win10 64-bit Pro
(hey, it was only $99 new/refurb !!) and it is so much
more perky than it was this morning ...

I hope these notes help some of the others with
    'not so speedy' PCs ...

What version of JTAlert? I suspect it is not current.

Recent Hardware/Software changes on the HamSpots server broke BandActvity data collection for older JTAlert versions.
Upgrade to 2.10.12 and you will be good.

Also, looking on PSKReporter, you appear to be running an old WSJT-X beta, 1.8.0-rc1. There were three release cadidates before the general release. Your running the first of those three. There were many changes and enhancements made to WSJT-X during the release candidate testing period. You really need to upgrade WSJT-X also, IMHO.

Yes, mine did the same thing.  Also tried Symantec Endpoint Protection and it was also flagged.  It doesn't say with what, but I haven't dug in very deep yet.  I hope this fixes the HRD Log problem that cropped up after HRD xx.yy.zz.787 was released.  Here's to hoping!

Your question isn't quite clear to me.  But it sounds like you want to "import" your HRD log so JTAlert knows all the contacts you have worked, right?

Once you hook up HRD to JTAlert you just do Settings/Scan and Rebuild.

I assume you already have JTAlert set to point to your HRD log and logging QSOs OK?

I have a bunch of contacts that need to be imported.  I'd really rather not manually type them in if I can avoid it.  I've been looking at JT-Alert but haven't found anything that says that is possible.
