OK, here goes.  Downloaded and installed version 2 tonight, and everything seems to be ok operationally, but...

1.  I would like The Voice (Joan DX?) to announce individual US State Names, à la v 1.6.0; however, There does not seem to be a file for that, as all the options are greyed out when I check that box.

If you have "Use Individual State Name Announcements" checked, then the test button (and the others) will be greyed out. That's all you need to do, any State alerts will announce the State. This does require the new Ham-Apps Sound files to be installed. Ver 1.6.0 files are not compatible. Download the new files from the "Program Updates" section of the Config.

2.  In Settings > Hot Keys, Toggle "Out of Shack Alert On/Off" equates to both ALT+X and ALT+H.  Do BOTH work, or is there a bug?
Don't know how your seeing 2 hotkeys defined for the one toggle. There is only one entry field per toggle. Can you provide a screen-capture showing the two keys defined?

3.  I have downloaded and installed JT-Alert Macros 2.0.2; however, when I right click in the text box in JT65-HF, only the Version 1.6.0 macros appear.  How can I get the new ones to appear?
JT-Macros has NO involvement with the right-click of JT65-HF. It is simply a standalone application that can send strings direct to the "TX Text" field of JT65-HF. Click the >> symbol top-right of JT-Macros for instructions and access to the editing of the individual macro buttons.

4.  I note that there is a HELP file for the macros, but not for the main program.  Will one be forthcoming in the near future?
Probably in the new year. I hope to spend some time on it over the Christmas break.

Thanks for what looks like a great new program--I look forward to exploring it more fully.

OK, I know what is happening.
JT-Alert (as well as that test utility I previously posted) filter the Registry search results to eliminate DSNs that use a Driver type not supported by HRD (FoxPro, dBase, Paradox, etc). I note from your screen capture that the DSN Driver is named "SQL Server".

The HRD documentation for setting up MSSQL  states use the "SQL Server Native Client 10.0". JT-Alert is looking for the string"SQL Server Native Client" without the version number and is thus filtering out your "SQL Server" driver based DSNs.

I have recompiled the HRD_ODBC_DSN_test.exe file to allow for this. Please download and advise if it is now seeing your DSNs.

Jeff,

I have a small utility (288 KB) that uses the same code as JT-Alert for determining configured DSNs (configured DSNs retrieved from the registry) and then does a check to see if the DSN points to a valid HRD Log. You can download from here... http:/Ham-Apps.com/dnl/Testing/HRD_ODBC_DSN_test.exe
When run, it will populate the dropdown box with a list of all User & System DSNs. Is you Log DSN in that list?

As I was typing this, it occurred to me that maybe your HRD log is on a remote PC different from the JT-Alert PC. Is that the case? If so, you will need to configure a DSN to point to the remote HRD PC. That is how I do my HRD testing here, with HRD on a remote PC away from my development PC.

OK Jeff,

If JT-Alert is not seeing the ODBC DSN for your SQL database that would suggest that you haven't created the DSN for the Log. Is that correct?

If you have created the DSN for the Log, was it a 32 bit DSN (if your on a X64 Windows OS)? Please open the HRDLog Database Manager (menu Logbook -> Databases - > Manager), then click the "ODBC Administrator" button. If you could take 2 screen-captures of that window, one for the USER DSN and the other of the System DSN tabs and email them to me with a note of the Log DSN that is not appearing in JT-Alert.

Laurie,

Thanks for the quick response. I am using the Standard ADIF file. IN the ODBC listing under HRD I don’t see my SQL Data source. With 1.6, I would log contacts via JT65-HF and it would write to the B4 mdb file. I would also log to my SQL server then periodically export my log to an ADIF set 1.6 to use the ADIF then scan for the WAS, DXCC etc.

Thanks and 73,

Which Log type do you have enabled? If you have HRD there is no need for the ADIF file. JT-Alert will use the HRD Log for B4 checks. The B4 mdb file only gets used if you don't have any of the supported Log Types enabled. It is not clear from your description which Log you are using.

Hi Costas,

There is no need to do an import.
Use the "Select" button  to navigate to the location and select the adif file you previously exported and saved from your logger.
The "Select" button DOES NOT delete the contents of the file.

Hi Bob,

It appears you missed this part or the 2.0.0 announcement..

The sound file paths for each Alert will not get migrated so you will need to visit each Alert in the Config and set the path.
Probably just best to use the Default button.

Visit the Config and you will observe that the wave file paths are empty for each of your alerts.

Ed,

Unfortunately, uninstalling v 1.6.0 doesn't remove the old JT-Alert files. Installing 2.0.0 to the same directory had the same affect of installing over 1.6.0.

Simple fix,
  1. Uninstall 2.0.0 then delete all files found in the directory where you had JT-Alert installed.
  2. Now install 2.0.0 again.
  3. All should work correctly.
Sounds can be installed from the "Program Updates" section of the JT-Alert COnfiguration.

Hi Sam,

Since you were part of the beta team, there may be incorrect data stored in a cache file. This file gets deleted (along with old ini config file migration) on first running of JT-Alert 2.0.0, but the flag file indicating that this had been run would most likely have been present on your PC because your old ini config file had already been migrated so this cache file failed to get deleted. To delete...
  • Stop JT-Alert
  • Delete C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Local\Ham-Apps\JT-Alert\K5OAI\cache\calldata.sqlite
  • Start JT-Alert
That should solve your problem.

If you still get the wrong data, enter W4WWJ into JT65-HF and after JT-Alert has
populated the Log fields with the incorrect data, use the "Contact Support" link
and I will examine your session file to see what is causing JT-Alert to flag the
call as PR.
