Randy,

JTAlert should present either a success or failure message after logging.
What are you getting? If your getting a failure message, what is the exact error?

Randy,

What version of JTAlert?

Versions of JTAlert later than 2.8.7 no longer support HRD6 logging.

Justin,

The "JTAlert started directly" message indicates that JTAlert didn't receive correct startup parameters in the shortcut target command line.

Your target is missing the /callsign parameter and that is why JTAlert started with your non-QRP callsign.

The correct target for you will be (pay attention to the quotes)...
"C:\Program Files (x86)\
HamApps\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe" /jtdx /callsign=EI3CTB/QRP

"JTAlert started directly (without using shortcut) or with an in correct shortcut parameter."

I then can choose from a selection of boxed which version I want. When I click JTDX it opens with my regular callsign not EI3CTB/QRP

I must be doing something wrong but I'm not sure what!

Justin,

This is a defect. The code for generating the shortcuts is very old and had not been updated for modern versions of JTAlert or new JTMode applications like JTDX.

The next release of JTAlert produces all the desktop shortcuts with the correct icons. I will send you an early release for testing (later today).

Do you know how I can generate a /QRP shortcut for JTDX?

Hi Mike,

I have made a copy of the  desktop JTDX icon (blue X) and renamed the target folder C:\Program Files (x86)\HamApps\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe"  /jtdx /EI3CTB/QRP.  I get an error displaying:
"JTAlert started directly (without using shortcut) or with an in correct shortcut parameter."

The only difference for the QRP shortcut is to pass an extra argument in the Target for the shortcut.

/callsign=EI3CTB/QRP

And to run JTDX add "/jtdx" as an argument too.

So the whole Target line would be

"C:\Program Files (x86)\HamApps\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe"  /jtdx /callsign=EI3CTB/QRP"

But I imagine you need to have created the QRP entry already from JTAlert.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I tried that but I use JTDX and only the follow shortcuts are generated, each displaying a red music note:

JTAlert for WSJT-X - callsign-QRP

JTAlert for JT65-HF by HB9HQX - callsign-QRP

JTAlert for JT65-HF - callsign-QRP

Do you know how I can generate a /QRP shortcut for JTDX?

Settings/Manage Settings/Station Callsign.

You can add "Additional Callsign" entries and create Desktop shortcuts for them.
I use that for QRP operations since I add QRP to my CQ callsign and have a separate log book for QRP.

Do you have a logger hooked up too?  The logger is what is used for determining B4 so unless you start a new log for /P or /QRP I do believe your B4's will be combined.

Hi,

I am hoping to use my radio from my holiday QTH and bring same the laptop with JT Alert installed.  As I will be in different grid squares I will be signing /P or /QRP.  When I come home I will want to go back to my regular callsign and all my existing settings.

Could anyone please advise how I can temporarily switch between callsigns so that my worked B4 stations are not combined.  I am able to change the callsign and grids in JTDX and WSJT-X but not in JT Alert.

Warren,

You can put the ADIF file anywhere that is convenient to you. Your Documents folder is fine.
You will need to tell JTAlert where that file is located. Open the JTAlert Settings and navigate to the "Logging -> Standard ADIF File" section and use the "Select" button to browse to your ADIF file. Don't forget to enable the ADIF logging via the checkbox at the top of that Settings section..

If you remember where you got the 2.4.10 download from please let me know. I would like to speak to the owner of that download site.
You wont have gotten it from HamApps.com as it only stores the last 2 versions.

Jim,

Where did you get JTAlert 2.4.10, from what website?
2.4.10 is very old, released Sep-2013, and didn't support JTDX (as it did not exist at that time) and only supported the 1.3 public release of WSJT-X.

Your running the latest public versions of WSJT-X and JTDX but a very old version of JTAlert.

You need to do the following...
  1. Uninstall JTAlert 2.4.10 using Windows Control Panel
  2. Download and install the latest JTAlert 2.9.8 downloaded from HamApps.com
  3. If you want LoTW/eQSL or US State indicators, download and install the latest HamApps Callsign Database
  4. If you want JTAlert Male/Female voice sound files, download and install the HamApps Sounds

Once you have the latest JTAlert installed, you need to make sure you start JTAlert using the correct shortcut for the JTMode application you are using (WSJT-X or JTDX).

Nico,

When this happens again please do the following...

  1. Take a screen-capture that shows both the HB9HQX and JTAlert windows. I need to see what HB9HQX is decoding when JTAlert is not alerting.
  2. Send that screen-capture direct (not via this group) to VK3AMA.Ham.Apps (at) gmail.com
  3. Use the "? -> Contact Support" menu, on the JTAlert title-bar, to send me your Configuration and Session files for analysis.
