JT Alert with 2.8 and new Computer Issue
siteinspect@...
Hello Group; Had 2,8 working with HRD, then I got a new computer. Did the install for all the programs. Every thing works fine except I did have an DSN error message. So I installed MS Access 7 as suggest by HRD posting, That correct the problem, but I still can't get Alert to upload in to HRD Log Book (Newest version of HRD Seem like I am missing the obvious. Any help would be great. Randy W9RTB

The "JTAlert started directly" message indicates that JTAlert didn't receive correct startup parameters in the shortcut target command line. Your target is missing the /callsign parameter and that is why JTAlert started with your non-QRP callsign. The correct target for you will be (pay attention to the quotes)... "C:\Program Files (x86)\HamApps\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe" /jtdx /callsign=EI3CTB/QRP de Laurie VK3AMA

This is a defect. The code for generating the shortcuts is very old and had not been updated for modern versions of JTAlert or new JTMode applications like JTDX. The next release of JTAlert produces all the desktop shortcuts with the correct icons. I will send you an early release for testing (later today). de Laurie VK3AMA

Re: : Re: : Re: Switching between callsigns
Hi Mike,
I have made a copy of the desktop JTDX icon (blue X) and renamed the target folder C:\Program Files (x86)\HamApps\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe" /jtdx /EI3CTB/QRP. I get an error displaying: "JTAlert started directly (without using shortcut) or with an in correct shortcut parameter." I then can choose from a selection of boxed which version I want. When I click JTDX it opens with my regular callsign not EI3CTB/QRP I must be doing something wrong but I'm not sure what! 73 Justin EI3CTB

The only difference for the QRP shortcut is to pass an extra argument in the Target for the shortcut. /callsign=EI3CTB/QRP And to run JTDX add "/jtdx" as an argument too. So the whole Target line would be "C:\Program Files (x86)\HamApps\JTAlert\JTAlert.exe" /jtdx /callsign=EI3CTB/QRP" But I imagine you need to have created the QRP entry already from JTAlert. de Mike W9MDB

Settings/Manage Settings/Station Callsign. You can add "Additional Callsign" entries and create Desktop shortcuts for them. I use that for QRP operations since I add QRP to my CQ callsign and have a separate log book for QRP. Do you have a logger hooked up too? The logger is what is used for determining B4 so unless you start a new log for /P or /QRP I do believe your B4's will be combined. de Mike W9MDB

Warren,

You can put the ADIF file anywhere that is convenient to you. Your Documents folder is fine. You will need to tell JTAlert where that file is located. Open the JTAlert Settings and navigate to the "Logging -> Standard ADIF File" section and use the "Select" button to browse to your ADIF file. Don't forget to enable the ADIF logging via the checkbox at the top of that Settings section.. de Laurie VK3AMA

Where do I place my .adi file for JTAlert
Warren Greenberg
I am a new user of JTAlert, and I exported my log'a adif file from logic9, my default for this log file is in "Documents" and it is called "Export". I can change the name if needed, I just need to know where to put this file so it work properly. 73 Warren - AE4WG

If you remember where you got the 2.4.10 download from please let me know. I would like to speak to the owner of that download site. You wont have gotten it from HamApps.com as it only stores the last 2 versions. de Laurie VK3AMA

Where did you get JTAlert 2.4.10, from what website? 2.4.10 is very old, released Sep-2013, and didn't support JTDX (as it did not exist at that time) and only supported the 1.3 public release of WSJT-X. Your running the latest public versions of WSJT-X and JTDX but a very old version of JTAlert. You need to do the following...
Once you have the latest JTAlert installed, you need to make sure you start JTAlert using the correct shortcut for the JTMode application you are using (WSJT-X or JTDX). de Laurie VK3AMA

JTAlert doesnt seem to work
Jim
OK I think I have everything installed correctly. I have used this program before but on a different computer. It worked great there. I have both WSJT-X v1.7.0 and JTDX v17.8 installed and I bring one of these up first then JTAlert-X 2.4.10 the programs appear to load correctly and I can work stations on bot WSJT and JTDX however I never see any stations being displayed on JTAlert like I used to. I have this sense that I have not turned on a software switch or something but I cant find what I have done incorrectly. Any help would be appreciated Jim WA3MEJ
