Hi John,

The Call Book Address is NOT something that JT-ALert sends to DXKeeper when a QSO is logged.
Sounds like a setting in DXKeeper has changed.

Hi Jim,

I agree, this is a problem with HRD.

I view the Country name as a "Cosmetic" piece of data, the critical item in a QSO that correctly identifies the Country is the DXCC code. What the country is called is irrelevant. The DXCC code is what is used by eQSL & LoTW to determine Countries (actually DXCCs) confirmed.

JT-Alert and previous versions of HRD recorded ZS as South Africa.
Now HRD Logbook checks the spelling and wants Republic of South Africa.
If you open a ZS entry from JT-ALert or an older HRD version, the country name of South Africa will be blanked when you update the entry.
I posted this on HRD Forum, since it is their fix. ARRL DX list shows South Africa, if that is the adjudication source.

Interesting, the Sound Files Setup being flagged differently to the Databases Setup.
Both use the same Installer package (Advanced Installer) to create the Setup.exe file and neither package installs executable files, only .wav (for sounds) and .mdb (for databases), so why one will be flagged differently is unclear to me.

It is the Sound & Voice files that get red-flagged as containing the Suspicious.Cloud.5.D virus. (Which is a false positive).
As Laurie said, this has all been discussed quite some time ago, and I'm sorry I made the joke.

Hi Eddy,

Just a "heads up"...

The next release of JT-Alert has an inbuilt updater to check for new version availability and will download and install the database automatically. Also the 3 databases are being replaced by a single database file, so that callsign State/eQSL/LoTW lookup will only require one file access and one database query compared to the current three separate file accesses and db queries. The file format will change from the current MSAccess .mdb file format to SQLite. There are several operational and speed advantages to this format and is not reliant on Microsoft MDAC components being correctly registered, especially on older XP OS's.

This has been discussed several times.  Norton's and others will often flag a file as unsafe for no other reason than it is not a popular internet download from a large well-trafficked website. This is especially true for Ham Applications were the user base is only a few hundred.

I think that I have been providing these files long enough, without any virus payload, that users should be comfortable enough to whiltelist the files/website in their Virus/Malware software.

If I provided a zipped file of the databases, rather than a .exe setup file I would also have to provide instructions on how to unzip and where to install depending on the Operating System and then the inevitable support emails because the user chose it install in their preferred directory which JT-Alert couldn't find. The setup exe file weighs in at around 4.5 MB, while the actual database files total around 32MB. I will stay with the setup .exe file as a distribution method.

BTW, the next release of JT-Alert has an inbuilt updater to check for new version availability and will download and install for the database. Also the 3 databases are being replaced by a single database file, so that callsign State/eQSL/LoTW lookup will only require one file access and one database query compared to the current three separate file access and db queries.
